19th Century Chicago Home Renovation Faces Serious Structural Issues | Windy City Rehab | HGTV

Alison Victoria tackles the 1800s landmarked home in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. She thinks the home’s massive size and profit potential makes it a no-brainer, but some major structural issues and a tenant who won’t vacate cause her to lose control of the already maxed-out budget.

Interior designer Alison Victoria combines upscale design with a passion for her hometown as she buys and restores old homes in Chicago. For these neglected homes in historic neighborhoods, she works to restore dignity to the homes while adding more square footage, style and modern twists. But each house has a past, and she never knows what challenges lie hidden beneath the decades of paint and plaster. #HGTV #WindyCityRehab #HomeRenovation #HistoricHome

  1. The way they talked about the tenant makes them seem greedy and mean, especially considering all the money they stood to make here. They should have offered him $10k upfront. Would have saved everyone a whole lot of time and trouble, and it’s a drop in the bucket compared to what they spent renovating this place

  2. I've seen some who offer the "squatter" $2,000 to move by a certain date. It might be worth that in this case too.

  3. Whoa… a LOT of work but quite the result (wish I could have seen more of it here). Alison, great vision!

  4. 8:00 A squatter? You said he was a tenant you had to buyout. Don’t disrespect people. That was his home also. I get tired of flippers who make entire neighborhoods unlivable for working class people. Then to call the guy a squatter…not cool.

  5. The guy was a fraud. He got sued by homeowners for costly repairs and the lady pretended that she didn't know anything. Fraud show. Do not watch these crooks.
