4 Levels of Curry: Amateur to Food Scientist | Epicurious

We challenged chefs of three different skill levels – amateur Emily, home cook Lorenzo, and professional chef Yuji Haraguchi – to prepare their best curry recipe. Once each level of chef had finished and tasted their final product, we asked food scientist Rose to explain their choices from an expert’s perspective. Which curry is making you curious?

  1. I'm not making fun of her. Emily's sweater reminds me of something a character in a cartoon might wear. 🙂 Just carrots.

  2. I love Yuji for going painless killing. Also his dish looks so good ????

Also, somehow disliking the food scientist's background music and effects

  3. I was thinking it was gonna be an Emily, Lorenzo and Frank trio but when I saw Yuji I was just as happy because he always makes the tastiest dishes 🙂

  4. Emily: "Level 4 should just be Tim Curry"

LMAO I wish they brought him in to narrate for Level 4. RIP Tim Curry

  5. A combination of one and two are honestly what I think when I think curry

  6. I love these videos, just wish they would show them all trying each other's curries and giving their respective verdicts.

  7. Emily totally wins with understanding that the apotheosis of curry is Tim Curry.

  8. Yes, but like the rest of the 1,2,pro videos , which is best ? They should all taste each others food and give a thought.

  9. I wish ppl would explain curry better. Watching no one use turmeric really turned upside down my idea of curry. (I’m 100% in the know that there are different curries please and thank you.)
But yeah like just explaining why what they are making is tumeric and not just a mix of spices. Like Thai curry. Jamaican curry. Indian curry. What makes it curry?

  10. Man Emily nailed an elaborate beginner's recipe. I like the vids where the joke isn't how basic home cooking is but the amateur chef still has knowledge and experience.

  11. Emily: Alright the first thing we're gonna do is cut these green beans down to size
*Also Emily: You're ugly and no one likes you

  12. This should be at least a 4 video series—Indian, Thai, Japanese, and West Indies-style curries. Still an amazing video, as always!

  13. I grew up eating Indian curry, but nowadays prefer Thai food.
One characteristic Indian curry spice , cumin, smells to me like jock-strap.
So I prefer the subtler spices like lemongrass, coriander, star anise, jalapeno chilli .

  14. I just really love lorenzo and emily and frank???????? and we cant forget Saul ????
