4 Levels of Garlic Bread: Amateur to Food Scientist | Epicurious

We challenged chefs of three different skill levels – amateur Desi, home cook Beth, and professional chef Saúl Montiel from Cantina Rooftop – to make us their favorite garlic bread recipe. Once each level of chef had presented their creations, we asked expert food scientist Rose to explain the choices each made along the way. Which garlic bread are you ripping into?

  1. don't want to be mean, but everytime I see level 1 guy, it looks like level 0, as there's no cooking involved.

  2. Thank you Chef Saul ❤ your amatriciana brought back many wonderful memories of my time working in a pizzeria

  3. Beth got that OG Grandma vibe and she always love her work – always a pleasure to see her.

  4. Does anyone stick around and watch Rose do her analysis. I leave every time the second I see her on the screen

  5. Level 1 is how I am used to it. But we didn't use mayo. We mixed the seasonings into butter, put it on some crusty bread, put some mozzarella and shaky cheese on top and tossed it in the oven.

  6. I like the lv2 one the best. Beth really nailed it omg. dont need lv3 that's not even garlic bread! To me garlic bread needs to be on a sliced bread, not just garlic baked into the bread itself. if i want focaccia id get focaccia (though it looked very tasty)! i want garlic bread.

  7. Desi is everything a level one chef should be. Cheap, creative and basic. Everyone on this fit their level perfectly.

  8. Beth’s definitely take it for me this episode- that looks PHENOMENAL. Can definitely tell it’s made by the hands of a loving grandma- something about a grandma’s cooking just can’t be competed with ❤️❤️ I know it’s gonna be a good episode when she’s in it
