  2. These ideas are only low cost if someone is giving materials away . Otherwise they are not cheap .

  3. Thanks for the ideas. I’d like things people can do without the assistance of others . So many people don’t want to help. They like competing.

  4. People in the next generations are competing . They don’t share plants or ideas.

  6. We shoveled lava rocks from a freebie, to landscape around our fence. It looked great. But in time the leaves and dirt settled into the landscape fabric through the rocks and we had unwanted growth in the rocks. Something to consider. Yours looks AMAZING ❤

  7. Growing up we got stone for the rock walls in the gardens of our acreage from farmers. My mom would just go up to a farm property and ask the people who lived there if they had any stones. Just like your example there was always a huge pile of rocks the farmer did not want. My mom and dad also built a stone fireplace with rocks from a farm!! I myself have gotten patio pavers and sidewalk blocks from a house in our area that was being demolished. I asked the new owners if I could take some pavers and they told me to take whatever I wanted. Plants included! I also got patio pavers from facebook marketplace in the ‘free’ section. Like you I borrowed a truck from my brother and worked like crazy to get things home and in place. Hard work! But worth it! Susan????????

  8. Subscribe to your local garden groups. I have always gotten free plants and rocks by being in them.

  9. Im right there with you Andrea. I love stones and rocks. I have many throughout my gardens. Im finishing a border now with rocks outside that is nicely coming together.
Your yard has always been so charming and has great eye appeal. Nice work you and your hubby do. ❤????

  10. One year my husband asked what I'd like for my birthday and I said I wanted some rocks for the garden. I have about 15, I think they are called lava rock, large stones with holes and indentations in them. A couple of questions: Do you whipper-snip around the rocks as the grass grows up around them? Also, how do you deal with fallen leaves in the pea gravel on paths and the patio? Surely if you rake the leaves it also rakes the stone.
