Are They All The Same Motor Oil? Let's Settle This! Four Types of SuperTech Motor Oil Compared

Let’s find out if SuperTech’s motor oil (5,000 mile, 10,000 mile, 10,000 High Mileage, and 20,000 mile) are the same oil. All four oils tested were sent to an independent oil lab for oil analysis. I tested oils for evaporative loss, lubricity or film strength, cold oil flow both new oil and after exposure to heat. Additionally, in a final test, the 20,000 mile oil is exposed to 10% gasoline to see the impact it has on lubricity or oil performance. I always buy all of the products tested to ensure unbiased test results. So, thank you for supporting the channel.

Motor oil videos on this channel bring out the funniest jokes about “Project Farm’s coffee”. So, I decided to surprise everyone by creating a new coffee brand, Ozzie’s Coffee. As you can probably tell by how fast I talk, I like coffee. Thanks again for supporting the channel.

  1. Next, do a comparison between different types of vegetable oil (canola, olive, peanut, etc)

  2. Uncle Project should be your street name. You are the internet uncle that helps us with tools when our dads don't/couldn't.

  3. I've always viewed "extended us" oil as just a safety margin. If you can't get to an oil change,; 500 miles over won't have as much of an impact. Oil is cheaper than an engine, for sure.

  4. I have a 2010 Ford ranger 4.0 L it has it has 62,000 miles
I use the Costco. Full synthetic 5w 30
I change the oil every 3,000 and motorcraft oil filter

  5. Awesome, thanks for the test. This reinforces my practice of just randomly grabbing a jug off the shelf while I play angry birds on my phone.

  6. yOU KNOW WHAT THE FIRST THING i DO WHEN iM LOOKING FOR A PRODUCT THAT WORKS? (sorry caps) I come to this channel. This channel is the gold standard and Im grateful for it! Your channel and Tech Ingredients are some of my favorites

  7. Can you do a Super tech, ACDelco, valvoline and Mobil 1 Dexos 5W30 test please

  8. You said it perfectly clear: "Oil is cheap, engines are not" Get the very best oil you can for your particular application, my car has 175k miles, so I use high mileage synthetic and a quality filter every 5,000 miles. no exceptions.

  9. shouldn't the test times be halved from the 20000 to 10000 to 5000 oils to simulate the different distances travelled before oil changes?

  10. I've used full synthetic since it was first available, either Pennzoil or mobil1.
As for interval, I usually go by looking at it, yearly conditions and how I drive impacts oil change intervals…. this is being cheap I agree. But if your hard on the engine, the recommended interval may be too long for you. Plus after decade of doing this ya could learn something which is the fun part : )
    Happy Easter

  11. I love and watch all the oil videos as I am obsessed waiting for the real test of 5w20 or 0w20 comparison or the other real test. Most cars on the road are 5w20 and lots of 0w20. I want to know how the 0w20 Mobil1 and Amsoil Signature Series 0w20 stack up to each other and is better than 5w20.
Mobil1 EXTENDED performance 5w20, Mobil1 EXTENDED performance High Mileage 5w20, versus Amsoil Signature Series 5w20, throw in SuperTech as a base figure for a Advanced full Synthetic 20, 0000 miles as the control. Those two tests would tell us if the best oils on the market say what they are. 5w30 Supertech doesn't tell us anything about the highest models of the big companies. I will pay for the oils and ship them to you directly to make a video.

  12. Im probably the only person that watches this channel that still uses straight conventional oil. I use Havoline in my 93 Ranger. I would love to see a comparison between Havoline, Super Tech, Castrol, Mobil 1, and Penzoil conventional oils. My truck is currently at 325k miles so i cant really complain.

  13. Could you do a comparison on jigsaws? Would be great to see options put through your tests

  14. Oh boy, 20,000 ?!? I prefer my oil to be a liquid state and not a solid when i change it lol.

  15. Because of you I switched to penzoil and I won’t go back. Super tech (Walmart brand) oil sucks. I’ll never use it again. Worst gas mileage I’ve ever gotten.

  16. After watching this highly entertaining and informative episode, I still have yet to see any compelling or consistent evidence that would persuade me to alter my maximum oil change interval of 5000 miles/6 months – no matter the oil brand nor manufacturer claims – to ensure optimal engine health and longevity.

  17. Dang, I had sticker shock on the price of oil per quart. I remember when I was a kid my dad would buy Pennzoil for 33 cents a can. Granted that was a long time ago but holy smokes!

  18. You summed up my thoughts on extended oil change intervals perfectly…. " Oil is cheap and engines are expensive."

  19. I use quaker state full synthetic change it about every 7000 miles this is in a 2004 Ford explorer sport trac

  20. Another great video! You do a very good job testing all the things you test. Thanks Have you ever tested 4 stroke motorcycle oil for motocross motorcycle? If not that wood be a good test and please test Shell Rotella T6 oil with them to see how it compares to the true motorcycle oils. Have heard good reports on it would be great to see how it compares.
