Snacks that keep your blood sugar low, limit the fat-storing hormone insulin and control hunger. I pitted four seemingly healthy snacks against each other and used this non-prescription CGM from Levels to see how each one impacted my blood sugar. 1. Have recently read that most dark chocolates have significant levels of heavy metals. Even one serving. It is not brand or organic label dependent. Can you address this for us? USDA testing for heavy metals is not required?
It is one of my favorites, as a small piece is satisfying, but now I'm afraid to eat any chocolate.

  2. This video was right on time!! I was just thinking of trying popcorn as a snack. (Maybe not now lol) And have been having 1oz of that same dark chocolate after dinner every night.. I have seen weightloss but now I can make some better choices and maybe see quicker results.

  3. Great video! I am terribly addicted to sugar ???? but doing fairly well after a month of low carb dieting. Popcorn WAS my go-to meal (ate it instead of lunch) but not since low car eating. I absolutely LOATH ????hard-boiled eggs unless deviled or chopped into a salad so I can’t taste it. I’m trying hard not to snack and if I do, that becomes my meal. ALSO finding that the 16-8 fasting is best for me and bulletproof coffee helps.

  4. I’m assuming eggs are the best and popcorn the worst but I am curious about the other two. Now let’s see if I’m right haha!

  5. What bugs me with the Libre-2 is that sometimes as I'm testing a food (e.g. testing every 5 minutes) the device gives me an error message that says, "Sensor Error: Glucose reading is unavailable. Try scanning again in 10 minutes." So, I wait 10 minutes and try again, only to get the same error message. By now it's too late to track the food as too much time has gone by. Note: I have used a Libre-2 on four different occasions over the past year or so and every device, at some point in time, has given me this error message.

  6. Test this please- gently melt 1-1/2 cups virgin coconut oil, add rounded tablespoon turmeric, heaping teaspoon ginger, teaspoon black pepper, teaspoon cayenne pepper ,teaspoon cumin, teaspoon nutmeg, teaspoon allspice, 1/2 teaspoon cardamom, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, 1 oz square of 100% cacao baking chocolate bar , dump in pecan halves dip out with spider or slotted spoon, spread out on parchment and dust heavily with ceylon cinnamon

  7. It's nice to learn how much CGM's cost, before attempting to actually get one and find out it's above my means.

  8. Hi Dr Becky – your videos have been very informative and useful to me in my weight loss efforts. I had a heart attack and bypass surgery 5 years ago so my interests are in: Keto-like diet maintenance coupled with healthy trans and saturated fat consumption in view of my coronary artery disease. In the future I would like to see you (maybe) take some of your time in that direction. Thanks!

  9. Dr Becky and Dr Jason Fung are the only two YouTubers talking sense about this topic and presenting facts in a relatable way for people to understand

  10. Not a fan of people getting their hands on life-saving diabetic supplies. Diabetic supplies are on back order in most places without a time/date to get them. Noninsulin therapies are in short supply thanks to influencers and keto fanatics. I foresee that same thing happening to CGM supplies. My T1D son needs these things to save his life from deadly low blood sugars. It's not a fad to see how food affects you.

  11. So, cool you did this, and thank you. I have had a love of gorging on popcorn forever. I cut it out, but then added it back in, non GMO, organic, etc….but had to cut it out again, and now know why! I have a huge food addiction reaction after indulging that can last 2-4 DAYS. From your comparisons I understand why. My body really likes low carb, decent fat and protein levels with tons of greens and low carb veggies! Great experiment.

  12. What a great video! Thank you! I have tried to not snack at all, but I notice when I intermittent fast (16:8), I do get very hungry in the late afternoon. Almonds are my go-to.

  13. What do you think a good sugar reading should be first thing in morning after sleeping

  14. Great to see detailed curve analysis. I'm diabetic so i monitor lots of foods. Non industrial eggs are healthy in multiple ways so eat up

  15. Thank you for your time filming this. Will reevaluate the bowl of popcorn. In terms of healthy fats – wouldn’t testing that popcorn with some olive oil dribble on it been preferable? I keep a jar of olive oil mixed with nutritional yeast, roasted sesame seeds and a small amount of salt as a popcorn topping which tasted good. Also Japanese Furikake is a good seasoning
Would love to see future videos testing snacks – carrot sticks/rice cakes/potato chips etc thanks!

  16. This is an absolutely wonderful analysis. Appreciate all the great work Dr. Becky does. I love eggs and the combination of fat and protein they provide. I get it. Unfortunately, as someone battling familial hypercholesterolemia and CVD both my cardiologist and lipidologist are saying a big "no-no" when it comes to egg consumption and it's potential impact on my Apo B number. So, trying to manage good blood sugar control with eggs as part of that dynamic and CVD is a challenge. I will be looking into a CGM regardless.

  17. You say people don’t eat a couple bites of just butter .. I see people on YT who follow butter and beef diets … sometimes the do just bite off of the stick of butter .. gross to me .. anyway what are your thoughts on carnivore diets?
