Chat GPT Recipe:
Browned Butter Supreme Chocolate Chip Cookie Perfection

Description: This Browned Butter Supreme Chocolate Chip Cookie Perfection recipe takes the already impressive cookie to new heights by incorporating browned butter, which adds an irresistible depth of flavor. The combination of flours, sugars, and a mix of chocolate types results in a cookie with a crispy, golden exterior, and a soft, chewy interior, all enhanced by the nutty, caramel notes of the browned butter.

Ingredients:
• 1 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
• 1/2 cup (60g) bread flour
• 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
• 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, browned and cooled
• 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
• 1 1/4 cups (250g) packed dark brown sugar
• 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
• 1 large egg
• 1 large egg yolk
• 2 cups (340g) assorted high-quality chocolate chips, chunks, or discs (mixture of bittersweet, semisweet, and milk chocolate)
• 1 cup (100g) chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
• Flaky sea salt for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions:
1. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, bread flour, baking soda, baking powder, and fine sea salt. Set aside.
2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Continue to cook, swirling the pan occasionally, until the butter turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
3. In a large bowl, combine the cooled browned butter, granulated sugar, and dark brown sugar using an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth and well combined, about 2-3 minutes.
4. Add the pure vanilla extract, followed by the egg and egg yolk, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
6. Fold in the assorted chocolate chips, chunks, or discs and nuts (if using) with a spatula or wooden spoon.
7. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 24 hours, but preferably up to 48 hours. This chilling process allows the dough to develop a deeper flavor and improves the texture of the baked cookies.
8. When ready to bake, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
9. Scoop dough using a medium-sized cookie scoop (about 2 tablespoons) and place dough balls onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
10. Sprinkle the tops of the dough balls with a small pinch of flaky sea salt (optional).
11. Bake the cookies for 12-14 minutes or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft and slightly underbaked.
12. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
13. Enjoy your Browned Butter Supreme Chocolate Chip Cookie Perfection with a glass of milk or your favorite beverage!

  1. Which chocolate chip cookie recipe do you think won: my Best-Ever Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe or the one generated by ChatGPT?

Also, I'd love to hear your thoughts on AI-generated recipes. Do you think they're the future of cooking and baking? What other recipe ideas do you think we could generate with AI?

  2. How interesting this is! I'm gonna try with the browned butter. I also prefer only dark chocolate. Great video!

  3. Very interesting that you did the AI cookie version and give your opinion on it. Hope you do more on this

  4. I also asked ChatGPT for a chocolate chip cookie recipe. ChatGPT does not credit its source, but after doing some quick digging I found that the recipe I got back turned out to be the same recipe found on the back of the Nestle Toll House chocolate chips bag.

  5. I haven't tried either recipe, but if they were both in a bakery case… I'd have to pick the CHAT version. It's more visually appealing, I LOVE browned butter and I like the size better. Keep up the good work.

  6. Interesting comparison. Your cookie looks really good so I think I will try it.
Personally I don't mind milk chocolate (bar, soft spread with peanut butter) but for cookies I prefer dark chocolate. I think the AI cookie taste would have to make me weak in the knees to go to the trouble of browning the butter; too time consuming. If AI is going to create the recipe than AI needs to mix & bake it for me too.
My grandmother had a chocolate chip recipe called Good Luck Fruit Drop (in addition to chocolate she would sometimes add coconut) but it also has baking powder & soda (the soda is dissolved in hot water before adding). It was kind of a cross between cakey and chewy & really good too.

  7. I don't think I'd use any AI generated recipes. There are sooo many wonderful, accomplished, professional and home cooks that are tried and true and willing to share some of their knowledge and experience. Thank you all that. ????

  8. I wish I had a working oven bc I want to make your cookie recipe so bad! Those look delicious!!

  9. I've tried your recipe and the results are amazing. Thanks for doing this experiment so I don't need to. Love every recipe of yours that I have tried. Just brilliant.

  10. Very nice cookie recipie Gemma! I like more your recipie Gemma! I didn't't like me to the milk chocolate! If we wan to make the smaller how many time i bake them? Have a nice day and good weekend! Have a good week and good month! ????????????????????

  11. I've never used browned butter in my baking, maybe I should give it a go! I agree with Gemma on the baking soda (I add baking powder to cookies only when it's for crinkle cookies or Levain cookies) and the dark chocolate, though. Milk or white chocolate I mostly reserve for green tea/matcha cookies. Also, ChatGPT leaving out one egg white and using bread flour (which absorbs more liquid) are probably what led to the dryer dough.

I also recommend replacing about two tablespoons' worth of flour with almond flour if you're not allergic – the cookies turn out even nuttier!
