  3. It’s a celebratory dish for us (my old family in the Punjab), we have it at Eid.and wedding celebrations. – using milk, cardamon, sugar, butter, shopped nuts on top, sometimes a few sultanas. It takes hours for the 4-5 pints of milk to condense down… I’ll try it your way, it looks heavenly, and I love coconut.

  4. This is a really popular dish in South Asia and there’s different variations. Tbh I would recommend you use ghee or vegetable ghee instead of coconut oil.

    This is not how we cook our vermicilli here in Bangladesh, we don't ever add milk tea or tea leaves into our vermicilli, it's a rather odd ingredient and it doesn't compliment the dessert in any way! πŸ™…πŸ»β€β™€οΈ and also… it's a popular dessert eaten around Eid time here every year and it's not meant to be eaten like a porridge for breakfast πŸ‘ŽπŸ»

    Lady… use your head and Google up about the history of Bangladeshi/Bengali cuisine and how a typical Bangladeshi style vermicilli (shemai) is actually cooked, stop misguiding the British public with so much misinformation. I know you'll never do that because you're ignorant and almost all the Bangladeshi cooks, professional or ameteur by now, know about your negative comments about our culture and cuisine!

    Nadiya Hussain, aren't you the one who said "Bangladeshis don't eat on chairs and tables" and "There are no desserts in Bangladeshi cuisine" ? πŸ€” well… for your information, we DO eat on chairs and tables like everybody else in the world, we don't live in caves like ape-men. When your dad left Sylhet for London, dining tables and chairs weren't so popular outside the capital Dhaka where I live but right now, almost every household in this country wealthy or not can afford dining tables and chairs for themselves!! And we DO have a whole range of no-bake sweet treats/desserts to choose from! Our Bangladeshi desserts may not be oven-based, but they are still desserts at the end of the day. Didn't your parents teach you what are mishtis or pithas? I believe they haven't 😐

  6. I substituted the vermicelli noodles with oatmeal (or porridge oats as their know in the UK), it was the best breakfast I’ve ever had. I will never look down my nose at oatmeal ever again. Thank you Nadia!

  8. Well in Pakistan we call it Sher Khurma
    After toasting noodles(wheat based/hand-made),I cook it first in little bit water followed by condensed milk.I add a lot of almonds raisins,sometimes dates but less sugar .
