  2. as always. Beautiful, Informative & Easy to follow.
thank you for sharing such a beautiful idea/product with simple techniques. Really love it.

  3. "If you've been holding on to scraps…" thats every wood worker I've ever known myself included lol. Great video and idea.

  4. James, this reminded me of a toy from my childhood: nesting balls, barrels and other nestable objects. They always had a toy, candy or other surprise in the middle. Mine had a skeleton bonzai tree (it was from Japan).
It'd be fun to nest 3 of these together, each with a cap, and hide something in the center one.

  5. I did get the 3m Sander and it has been to 3m 3 times for warranty work. Works for about 10 minutes and then send it to 3m. And no the reset procedure does not work.

  6. Nice little project to break that tediousness down of those long projects when you need too. Looks awesome.

  7. Fantastic job James. Sure looks great how everything turned out. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.

  8. Really beautiful work, James! ????
Thanks a bunch for all the tips!
Stay safe there with your family! ????????

  9. Great idea, thanks for sharing!

As a side note, if you're ever getting rid of those scraps let me know.

  10. I just wanted to thank you. I watched your Tail Vise video and it filled in the blanks on how to incorporate that concept into my CNC table. Work like a champ an provides 99.9% accuracy because the Tail Vises I installed holds the work product with no movement and a consistent reference point. Your video helped so much, Thank You

  11. I bought some 3M Xtract last week based on your recommendation. I used it for the first time today to sand a simple little holder for drill and driver bits that I made. I was amazed at how well it works! I just needed to smooth out some light saw marks and burn marks left by my table saw and router. Normally, I would use 80 grit paper to remove the marks quickly, then work up from there. With the 3M paper, I decided to start with 120 grit, and that 120 grit paper removed the saw and burn marks much faster than the 80 grit paper that I used to use, plus it lasted longer and left the wood a lot smoother. It works much better than even the expensive sandpaper than I used before, and it costs less. Great stuff!

  12. YES! As a matter of fact I will steal this idea !!! I need to make a gift for a family member and this is perfect for her!

  13. Fantastic, I am now devising a way to do this if you don't have a bandsaw — I don't have room for one so it isn't going to happen.

  14. Beautiful little project, James. Very much liked the small angle and perspective tricks you used for it. Cheers.

  15. Neat project. Our local Woodcraft has had a course called "bowl from a board" that employs the same principle, but the cuts are done on a lathe and then the glued up bowl is finish turned.

  16. Nice box / container. As you said, great use of off cuts (not scrap, scrap is just an off cut waiting for the next project ). Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.????????

  17. I love shellac. I use it as sanding sealer on most projects. I especially like it as a total finish on items meant for food. Yes, I know that pretty much anything is food safe when dried/cured, but when a client asks me my finish is food safe I don’t need to explain the nuances.
Shellac is sometimes used as a candy coating or for enteric coated medicines. In other words shellac is eatable.

  18. To make the most of the waste material you could easily turn that into a very nice bandsaw box that’d probably fetch more $$$ than the basket itself. Just a thought.

  19. As long as you have more wood for the bottoms you could make a few smaller baskets from the offcuts.
