Developed by famed firearms designer John Browning, the Colt 1911 Government Model is a full-sized semi-automatic pistol. Chambered for the 45 ACP cartridge and featuring a 7 round magazine capacity, the 1911 is a classic choice for personal defense. Watch as Larry Potterfield, Founder and CEO of MidwayUSA, gives this large pistol a workout at the range.

That’s why I always reach for my Colt series 70 with the CCI Speer Lawman 200grain jhp Inspector rounds.
If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it.
Somehow, a .45 caliber 1911 Colt pistol makes me forget that there are tactically better pistols in the world. Your video somewhat made my heart skipped a beat.
ALL OF THE 61 THUMBS DOWN. HAVE NO CLUE OF A REAL HAND GUN SIGNIFICANCE….
Thanks for validation
This guy is awesome. I would have loved to see him hold it sideways and spit out some gangsta lingo. Maybe next video.
I bought a 1911c”classic”. It has really cheesy, rough, laser engraving on the sides of the slide. I’m not happy with it. Colt customer service basically says it’s my fault for buying something at the store, regardless that i couldn’t tell with the grease it was coated with. Colt can go screw themselves.
Doesn't take into consideration most people shoot revolver better. 1911 all over the place.
Take this video and score with a grain of salt
A .45 acp bullet hauling as at 930 feet per second will really do some damage. The weight counteracts the recoil very well. I'm not old enough to carry, but I use it as a range toy with my dad and home defence. I have small hands and the 1911 fits well.
The Great, Late John Browning, Knew just what he was doing, When he Designed the 1911 Gun May he RIP..
"Stopping Power": More mass moving at great speed equals greater force. big bullet .45 caliber does have more mass than a 9mm, for example so upon impact to a target like a body with flesh, bone and organs, it will have a greater concussive impact. So yeah, that's where the term "stopping power" comes from. its real, not an urban legend. People that say there is no such thing as stopping power are just self appointed know-it-alls that make statement without the science to explain their BS conclusions. If you were to get shot with a 9mm and get shot with a .45 cal- provided you survive that experiment 😉 you would likely feel the tremendous difference your body would feel as that bigger mass bullet turns your insides to jelly.
Uh.. how would you hide that? Last to mention, who would fire a pistol one handedly? I mean i can understand if its a quick situation. But either way, im in commiefornia so i definetly cant do this.
I love this gun
I'd personally never carry the 1911. I love it as a range gun, however as a daily carry to me it has too many safety's between me and pulling the trigger for me to carry it.
1911 enthusiasts may disagree, and flame me however I never want to have to disengage a safety to be able to shoot my firearm.
under high stress, should yoy have to pull your firearm in self defense, it's one more thing that can go wrong that could possibly get you killed instead of killing the enemy.
One of the last guns that I'd carry.
Dude, all your analyses are the same (just watched the one on the Model 686 S&W). PSH!!
