  1. Dawn, maybe you've heard this…a quote something along the lines of, "A man who knows himself cannot be defined." (Woman, too, of course.). I feel that way if others are confused about my minimalist journey. The more confident I became in the process, the less I relied on outside opinions. ❤

  2. Planting tips: ☺️ Your grow lights need to be only 2 inches above your plants and use them on the both the seedlings and the plants that have not emerged yet. If you are using a heat mat turn it off when the plants emerge they dont need it anymore. This should all help prevent legginess. Also Zinnias do well planted directly in the ground. This is how we prefer to grow them here in Kansas. If you have extra seeds try directly sowing them in the ground along with your indoor started plants and see what works best for you.

  3. Jess is amazing we have followed her for years. She inspired us to build a small window greenhouse and my daughter painted it pink. We have 7 raised beds. This seed tray seems amazing going to check it out. I appreciate this topic because it is a touchy topic when you're dealing with people's opinions when you're making that change. Thank you for sharing what you do and it's fun to see. You get things ready for your garden and I hope it grow really well. That you get to harvest lots of goodies.

  4. Every road to minimalism is different. You keep what you live and what you feel you can handle. Nice to See you on a friday

  5. Totally agree on the tv. We didn’t have one for years just because we don’t really watch it either and bought one a couple of years ago so we could host thanksgiving as the guys the family wanted to watch the game lol. We have maybe rented 4 movies on Amazon to watch but would rather be outside or working on a hobby/reading. I do YouTube on my phone or read. Don’t really get into the tv shows but I love you tube! Lol

  6. Is it worse to throw it AWAY or give to good will… goodwill may not be the BEST… but my gunked up house is not good either… when you know better you can do better! Get it out by any means necessary… but then once you got the bulk OUT… then worry about making better choices, and better donations when it's reasonable and slowed down!!! ❤

  7. So I just want to point out that Dawn is teaching a Minimalist lifestyle or Simplified lifestyle… she's not teaching minimal or minimalist home decor style. Having some decorations is part of simplified lifestyles…but not the minimalist design style.

  8. I think minimalism can be different to everyone. I am an avid TV watcher. But when cleaning I have to have either the tv on or an audio book. I can put on a program I want to watch and clean that room without getting bored. The same with audio books. I use them to get cleaning done.

  9. What a sweet way to answer your detractors. Indeed, what it the point of all of it if you can't live your life enjoyably?

  10. Gardening.. Don't look at it as saving money. Look at as a hobby you enjoy, the relaxation, and knowing how your food has been grown. ???????? Also, plants need darkness to rest, just like us ????

  11. Can you share where you got the two desks that are behind you in the beginning of the video. They have Black legs and wood top. This video is so helpful, thank you!!!

  12. Wow! Limiting your tv would greatly reduce the amount of advertising and marketing you have to put up with. I can't believe how much product placement there is in everything I watch.

  13. You are truly living your rich life, as Ramit Sethi says. With your guidance every step of the way Dawn, my life is so simplified. And with Ramit, I am exploring what now makes my life full of joy and meaning. I would love to see a collaboration with the two of you ❤

  14. Started following you last week and am hooked! This week I have slowly started working through each room of our house while I watch your YouTube videos ????

We have 2 sets of identical twin girls! With another girl in-between. So many toys, clothes, and shoes!! I just finished going through all their clothes WITH them and paired down to 8 bottoms, 8 tops, and 7 summer church dresses.
    This afternoon…it’s my turn…GULP!!

We live in Michigan and I started seedlings three weeks ago. I bought the same-looking grow light and have all our seedlings in the basement until this darn weather cooperates!!

  15. I have become obsessed with your channel over the last couple of months! I even caught myself “quoting Dawn” at Target the other day lol. My husband and I have set a goal to pay off our house in the next year, before we both turn 25! Seeing all of the things I wasted money on asI simplify our home has encouraged me not to spend money on all the extras.

I would LOVE to see a minimalist/no spend boredom activities video that aren’t hobby shopping!
