  1. You boys need to get palm nailers to do those tight places and joist hangers.

  2. Here’s a tip from an old timer… add a layer of 40# roofing felt (overlap ends at least 12in) on top if the the initial steeply pitched micro grade. Wrap it up against side of the house at least 6in, THEN cover with your dirt for your final grade. NEVER use top soil, rock and mulch as grade/back fill! You can always cover the final grade for aesthetics ONLY. Use landscape fabric or builders plastic on the final grade then add non-organic material to cover so weeds and unwanted “friends” won’t take up residence.

    Your team is awesome!

  3. Your home has a fantastic view. Sure do enjoy your videos. Trying to decide if I want to build a pole building garage myself or just get someone to do it. The only problem is you have set a high standard that not many contractors could meet.

  4. Just an idea!
When the organic material (wood) is so close to the ground (muck mud) how about you guys usr the ZIPP tite on the bottom side to proof the (wood) organic material from rotting as fast!

  5. 2 guys max on this job – any more is a waste of labor – def wrap the posts with azec

  6. Ray has the face of a 16 year old and the beard of a 40 year old, its such a bizarre combo.

  7. I love these videos! If I wasn't so old and arthritic i'd love to work with these guys!

  8. Id suggest finding a new sawzall
Blade company ive cut ibeams in half with my wood blades just dont wanna push to hard let the saw work

  10. There seems to be a lot of back and forth between shot nails and GRK screws. How do you decide which fastener to use and do you see any difference in hold or sheer strength between the two?

  11. I’ve used a one of those Dewalt squeeze bar clamps – clamping top of joist and top of beam to bottom of joist. You just angle the clamp a little. The feet are a little flexible so it works good. I drive nails thru the beam into the end of the joist initially then come back and put the joist hangers on like you guys do.

  12. ????‍???? Oh, that we'd have seen that joist leveling block 2 days ago!! My hubby & I just finished a 10' X 10' deck in our daughter's backyard today!! We did the joists yesterday…At least we'll know that trick if we ever do another one!! Y'all are brilliant!! Great video, as always!! ????

  13. Amazing job, Jamie showed some real skill with those nailers for rafter sheeting and Eric's "get 'er done" attitude whilst the guys were at lunch was fun. At to that the best crew on the planet and you have the Perkin's dream team.

  14. You should have used a 2×8 against the house with a 1 and a half Ledger for your 2×6 Joyce. Not to smart your way.

  15. Jamie doing that "Clint Eastwood thing" with his 20 oz framing hammer was so cool! The rest of the video wasn't too shabby either. The duplex is really coming together! All the best guys!

  16. use your best stuff first ,that way your always using your best stuff.
