  1. If you are using LP Smartside, why are you not painting the cut edges?

  2. I'm curious whether y'all have done a show about ear protection / ear covering products. I haven't found one that works for me, as a hot+sweaty type and as someone interested in keeping my ears happy, and maybe listening to some tunes or podcasts. So, my criteria for bluetooth/noise cancelling ear protection in 2023 (yours may differ):
1 – Comfort — if it's uncomfortable, I just don't wear it. It's the truth. This is also probably the most personal, since there's like a billion different ear designs on this rock.
1a – Weight/fit — it has to stay on and stay in place to be useful, while I'm working, jogging, bending, sweating, etc. If I have to constantly adjust it, it sucks.
2 – Durability — It's gotta hold up more than one year on a professional jobsite to get an A. That's my measuring stick.
3 – Effectiveness/Quality — does it protect my ears? That's the point, right? Do the batteries last 6+ hours? Also, re: music, etc, does it sound good?
4 – Price — Ideally not hundreds of dollars. But if so, it better be durable and high quality and comfortable.
5 – Features — does it have FM radio? Bluetooth works/connects well (not all do)? Charge up easy? Easy to learn buttons/interface/settings?
6 – Style — I don't care about this AT ALL. 😉 But some folks do.

  3. Erick, you uploaded the complete video of the last project, and here I am still waiting for the farmhouse part 2.

  4. I think you did that window flashing wrong. You want those flanges pointed up on either end. It forces water to the exterior of the flashing. The way you have it the water will go down inbetween the siding and trim.

  5. ???????? love watching you guys my husband too???? learn so much..he does too????

  6. Hey guys love the content, I like to deal with the trim against window flange by using a pan head screw fastened to the back of window trim, effectively shimming it out the thickness of window flange. It's quick, adjustable, and creates a little air gap behind trim! It's always interesting to me to see how different siding is installed in other places, here It's code to have a rain screen, end dams on flashing and we even need to rabbett our sill trim for siding to tuck behind create a flashing with the trim. Keep up the good work! Cheers from Canada

  7. ???????????? I can totally relate to Jaime's struggle with the 5 o'clock shadow after two weeks of not shaving! It's like a brotherhood of embracing that rugged look. Sometimes life gets so busy that grooming takes a back seat. This video on the construction of a duplex looks intriguing too. I wonder what other interesting aspects and progress we'll get to see in Part 19. Can't wait to dive into it! ????????????

  8. Awesome idea. I’ve been doing it for years and now I bought a second table saw and put them side by side so I don’t have to adjust one table saw to make both cuts. One small upgrade that costs in the beginning has saved money in efficiency over the long term. Attention to detail though is what it’s all about. ????

  9. Eric thats just the cost of ole father time, i zing my back every so often too and it agony for about a week…takes your breath away when ya step wrong and it ZINGS ya. it'll go away but ya gotta baby it a bit. feel better soon.

  10. Have you made your window trims with pocket holes? I can see how pocket joints and rabbets can work together to make good flat trims.

  11. We use old steel doors over and over on houses so we can lock them up and when ready put the final doors on. We also cut the flange width out of the trim and a great way to keep the siding looking good.

  12. I really like your videos thanks for taking the time to do them. Question i notice a lot when you measure something you say the length then cross cut what does cross cut mean?

  13. Just stayed in Bryson for a few days on the way to Virginia from Oklahoma. Neat little town you have there. Awesome part of the country. We loved it.

  14. I saw some really old videos of these guys earlier today… They looked just as happy to be working as they do now, although Jaime looked like a teenager.

  15. How is it that whenever my crew is performing a task, the Perkins crew is doing the same or similar task? ????
