  1. I see you're using the Aprés Sensitive Gel, does this work for you without any reactions??

  2. This is so true. I would often use my lunch break to get gel done across the street and after a while I found myself thinking that I’d rather be back at work than at the nail salon. I think that says a lot. It’s so tedious being there.

  3. I've saved sooooo much money over the years by being a DIY girlie. I do my own nails, hair, and lashes. After you get past the awkward learning phase, you can get them EXACTLY how you like every time (no more pretending to love it at the salon to avoid confrontation then secretly crying in your car!)

  4. please god be careful when using gel products!! speaking from experience you can quickly get a exposure allergy!! i can barely use gel or i have to be very careful to not get it on my skin or i get super itchy!!!

  5. I’ve cut my hair multiple times and I notice texture changes almost every time! To your point, I think I have more patience when it comes to maintenance so that could be a thing. But, a friend’s mom lost her hair during chemo when we were younger and she did little to nothing to it as it grew back and noticed the change too so I’ve always kept that in mind and assumed/expected the change every time (I buzzed my head).

….And now I have to look this up and see what the actual reason is 😂

  6. The main concern with doing gel nails at home is people getting methylmethacrylate (MMA) which is both a nightmare to remove and pretty terrible for nail plate health, and with people accidentally giving themselves contact dermatitis and a permanent allergy to gel nails from improper curing times/cleanup and a lack of PPE or dust filters when filing the nails

  7. I need to know where you got those heart cutout tips from?? They’re beautiful.

  8. For anyone watching this – she isn't lying about careful application. Getting any of the gel on your skin can lead to an allergy. The chemicals you're reacting to are also used in dentistry and joint replacements. That means an allergy developed from getting your nails done could prevent necessary medical treatment in the future.

  9. Just make sure you’re very careful with the uncured gel. It can cause terrible allergies and then no more gel for you. But I love doing it at home!

  10. I got allegic to the gel after doing nails at home for some time, while it was fun i probably made too many mistakes and got all the chemicals to close to my skin. It can lead to allegro after some time or if you don’t cure your nails properly so be super careful

  11. I TOTALLY AGREE with you! Same here I have not only saved thousands of dollars but I’m also saving my actual nails by being more gentle on them at home. 🩷🩷💅🩷🩷

  12. I had long natural nails and always did my manicure at home but i'm playing violine i need to have short nails but i'm still taking care of them and put nailpolish. Having my own salon at home is the best

  13. Same for hair bleaching and coloring. I was only twice there and payed attention now i'm doing my hair since almost 1 year

  14. I love doing my own nails! Getting the quality products and learning about nail safety was such a good decision! I recommend anyone who wants to learn to do some research, learn how to safely apply gel polish, and have some fun! (And I say safely because gel polish allergies are not to be messed with!) ❤️💅

  15. If you're a beginner just be careful to never get any on the skin and make sure you have the right light for your polish so it cures completly. Allergies can develop after one time or repeated exposure and make you inable to get certain types of medical care or use gel again.

  16. Doing your nails at home without knowing that gel allergies can develop (which youll have to deal with for your entire life and affects your ability to get DENTAL FILLINGS among other things) is super dangerous! It can happen to anyone at any time, and the high quality stuff salons use are less likely to cause these allergies. It's russian roulette. You can get the allergies first time you use it, or you can get it 10-20 years later of weekly manicures. Theres no way to know and itll change your life forever because the ingredient you become allergic to is in a lot of stuff. This is specifically for gel and acrylic. If you use normal nail polish, you should be fine. Id be scared even to use gel x extensions because the glue you apply to your nails and put under the heat lamp can cause the allergy if it touches your skin/doesnt cure correctly. In salons, they wear masks for a reason—to keep from inhaling the dust of the sawn off acrylics (which can cause the allergy).

  17. Nail stickers and gems are a way to up your nail art game FAST! Takes a bit of patience, but it's so worth it if you're not super artistically inclined.

  18. I just use nail polish but I've never loved getting acrylics. I love doing my nails at home now too.

  19. – Where did you get those specific ones? I'm sure I can obviously google it, but I don't want cheap looking ones, I want what you got, if that makes sense. Lol 😅

  20. As a nail tech may I suggest using a gel peel off base coat before applying the standard apres application. This will ensure basically zero damage to your nail plate

  21. Can you teach how to? It looks so quick how even I want to buy some stuff but I don’t want to overbuy usually internet scams me 😭😭😭

  22. started doing my own during covid!!! i learned from YouTube videos lololol it saves so much time and $$$$

  23. Nail health improved 1000x when I started doing my own. I didnt know getting your nails done wasn’t supposed to hurt/burn. They were paper thin and Even my fingertips became sensitive when I went to a salon. Tried a couple too!

  24. from a nail tech, you did AWESOME❤️ i love seeing people learning to do their own nails and learning everything that goes into the craft. my best advice is: dont file your natural nail too thing, and NEVER i mean NEVER let the gel touch your skin. contact dermatitis is no fun!
