Cutting, Crafting, and Carrying on: Restoring a Mother’s Ring

Amanda’s mother’s ring is more than just jewelry- it’s a connection to someone she deeply misses. After years of wear, missing diamonds, and a broken band, it was time to heal the ring. I rebuilt the prongs, replaced the missing diamonds, and preserved the sentimental wear marks with precision and care so it will last for years to come. Jewelry holds memories, and this repair is a reminder that the love of a mother endures.

  1. I would cry happiness if someone were to repair my ring to this level of skill and value

  2. Dental tools are great for getting built-up carbon off pew pews with charging handles and more.

  3. I see a lot if broken 'diamonds'in your posts. Diamobds are said to be indestructible apart from a hot fire, so hoe does this happen?

  4. It's amazing how you incorporate your client's feelings into your creations. You really do put your heart into it! You are a rare jeweler.

  5. Thats not a scaler. Its called a shepherds hook explorer. A scaler can remove tartar/calculus from the teeth. The explorer only detects cavities.

  6. 25 years ago, I wanted a very special engagement ring, so I negotiated to purchase a 1 ct. blue diamond and had it set in a gold bezel (absolutely no prongs) ― I hand sketched a unique rope-tie style which was also set in gold and everything else in silver (everything she loves). Silver is soft, but we both like how the wear and tear make both our rings look even more unique with age.

After my proposal, all my friends who were also getting married decided to design their own engagement rings also in a gold and silver mix, which somehow began a trend in Los Angeles and spread out.

Later, people asked me, if it was more expensive to design her ring and it was actually less expensive than what the stores carry — Except for the blue diamond, of course.

  10. the laser welder you use is something that can only be used for jewelry and what types of metal does it work on?

  12. Such great work. I love watching your videos… I studied to become a jeweller but could never work because I suffer from essential tremor. It was pretty heart breaking for me, I'm a graphic designer now. But watching your videos is amazing for me, it's like I'm back on the bench for a short while. <3

  13. Your art is so beautiful❤ How much do you earn with one repair? I'm curious, becaue I am considering becoming a jeweler myself.😊
