  2. cucumbers hate wind so this only works in protection in uk. i let them crawl on the ground with a dry mulch beneath them and get good crops

  3. you can simply wind the plant round the string as it grows… simple and no need for clips

  4. Your impersonation of the wilted cucumber leaf 😂 great informative video once again, thanks

  5. The crazy thing about this video is I JUST decided to make my gardening comeback this season with my favorite plant..cucumbers! I grew a couple plants as my first venture into gardening during COVID, and that took me on a journey where I did countertop microgreens, a small indoor aquaponics project, and even a few indoor cannabis grows. I decided I wanted to grow from seeds and now have 5 cucumber plants growing like crazy!!
    Two big questions…

    1. Heat. I'm in Arizona and we have already dipped above 100 a few times. Should I try and push these plants to produce and expect them to die soon sooner rather than later? Is it worth trying to shade them or will that just stunt their growth in the end? I've got them positioned to get direct morning-mid day sun and no direct in afternoon/evening.

    2. Square footage – how many square feet per plant would you suggest?

Appreciate the awesome and informative videos as always my dude. Take care!!!

  6. I grew my cucumbers last year in between pole limas on a trellis. I only planted three cucumbers in a 20 foot row. The rest of the row was lima beans. The soil was pure mushroom compost. I didn't fertilize them at all, and I had good production, about 30cucumbers for the season in spite of a few that got overly mature before I found them The one cucumber actually reached out to the willow tree next to the end of the bed to an overhanging branch and climbed the tree. I did this as an experiment, because limas have a strong smell. It worked, – no cucumber beetles were able to find them. When powdery mildew came along in August, I didn't bother trying to treat it, because I didn't need any more cucumbers. If I had treated them better I probably would have gotten more cucumbers, but to me it wasn't worth the trouble.

  7. Well I thank you again! Anthony you are the best!! This old woman learns something new every time you post a gem!

  8. I have had great success growing cucumbers. The last year, though, all of my cucumbers have been bitter. Lots of bitter cucumbers. It was surprising and discouraging. I did the same things as always. Do you have any suggestions for preventing this?

  9. bought some Merlin and Party Time based on your recommendation last year and its fruit galore. If there's one take away, variety selection is S-tier.

  10. I grow cucumbers up a string trellis without any clips or ties simply by training them , twisting the vines around the strings (gently!) – works fine.

  11. Cool video , thank you 🙏 got to run and grab some water soluble fertilizer 😅

  12. I followed your advise from a couple of months ago and I’m now growing Merlin and Diamant.

  13. My go-to was always Tasty Jade. Johnny's has stopped selling it and now offers Sashimi which is gynoecious and parthenocarpic with a better disease resistance. I like it better. Just FYI.

  14. Hey dude i enjoy your videos, very descriptive. I have a suggestion for you. Your 2x4s probably wont bow as much if you flip them with taller side vertical with the 3.5in side running up and down on the sides and the 1.5 inch side on top and bottom running left to right.

  15. 2:51 hahaha I wish you would’ve said this last year before I used organic cotton twine for my indeterminate tomatoes!!! 😂 they all broke one by one, it was so depressing 😢
I wrap them around the twine as the year goes on, so it would’ve been ridiculous to try to swap it out with nylon by August. Anyways! Good advice here!
