  1. Wow.. you have to heat your hot water with a hot water heater where you live?

  2. Down in Southwest LA, they put the water heaters in the attic. Could you imagine the disaster if it decides to go up there?! Great video!

  3. Thanks, I just replaced mine a couple of months ago. I noticed it started leaking out of the bottom.

  4. My parents replaced are gas water heater nothing is wrong with it it just needed an upgrade to a electric water heater and we added a new water softener

  5. And here I am… excited for my water heater to die so I can turn it into a smoker. Lol.

  6. most austrlian water heaters are outside on the side of your house, if it does explode it does not damage anything

  7. On another page, someone was making comments about using pipe dope and tape, which seemed preferred. The YouTuber said "pipe dope is a lubricant….the tape is the sealant" not sure, just something I viewed.

  8. Here in the UK we stopped installing these heaters about 20 years ago for a couple of reasons. Firstly gas is expensive here and their efficiency rating is about 50-60%. Due to the burner set up being linear.Secondly they are open flued having a draught diverter, they take the combustion air directly from the room they are installed. And if you inadvertently cause a negative situation you can reverse the flue gases back through the draught diverter into the room which can be Co (carbon monoxide). We only fit room sealed appliances now with an average of 90-96% efficiency. All our pressurised appliance must have a 3 tier level of control. Ie thermostat, high limit stat and pressure/heat release valve (PRV).

  9. It’s called an expansion vessel and for domestic hot water it’s an internal ballon which holds the water and surrounded with pressurised air so that no part of the metal vessel is in contact with the water. The one you were explaining is for pressurised heating systems, which has a diaphragm across the centre. Looks as if you have the wrong vessel fitted.

  10. did you get a permit for that? and it ovb leaked look at that monsterosity

  11. I think the 'funky barnacle' was the remains of the hot water tank anode rod. That is in there to keep the tank from rusting, so with yours falling apart, that may be why the tank finally corroded.

  12. All together now.. t
The expansion tank is installed incorrectly. They are mounted vertical up not vertical down. Info from Pipe Doctor YouTube creator and master plumber

  13. I actually just replaced my anode rod in my Bradford White and it was nearly entirely eaten away. The anode rod is actually a part of the hot water outlet pipe. You replace it by unscrewing the hot water outlet pipe itself and the anode rod is attached at the bottom. Just fyi for anyone reading.

  14. You turned it off and turned it back on and it didn't leak.
You "ctrl-alt-del" your hot water heater. ????????????

  15. surprising we don't make them out of stainless steel, but can't make something last.

  16. The people who let their expansion tanks rust are the perfect marks for Sharkbite connectors.

  17. Anode Rods come in Electric Water Heaters. Gas Water Heaters don’t have one.
