Doubling the prongs to double the stone’s security #JewelryRepair #BlueTopaz

Crystal deserved better security for her checkerboard cushion cut blue topaz ring. She got it while on a cruise last year and it fell out three times since then. The prongs were pretty thin and dainty and just couldn’t provide an adequate hold on the stone so I cut them off and installed double claw prongs instead. Crystal can now wear her cherished memento with complete confidence.

My loyal viewers- I want to apologize for the desaturated shot of the before ring. I did it for dramatic effect and I see many of you are put off by how it looks. Thank you for voicing your opinions. I do value them and want you guys to enjoy these. So moving forward I won’t desaturate the before shots. Thanks for watching!

And if you guys have any other suggestions drop a line below.

I have a ring and bracelet like that. Blues are my favorite. You do great work. Wish I lived near you.

Beautiful work! My ex wife was GIA and I got to see first hand many times the outstanding expertise of her and her colleagues.

As a photographer I also noticed the desaturation filter haha glad to see you listened to the comments about it! 😊

To me, those progs look BETTER! They give the ring more interest without taking away from the stone. They compliment the piece and honestly really look like theyve meant to be there. Stunning!

Sometimes stones becoming loose or falling out can also depend on how rough someone is with their jewelry while wearing it, if it snags on things a lot or smacks into things or a child gets a hold of it and chews on it or something then it can knock them loose (of course the prongs needing replacement is a different issue) just wanted to leave this tip here for others. Also those new prongs look great! It's not easy building new prongs, this takes a lot of practice and making them looking so great and equil to size and quality can be very tedious

People have said the saturation thing is deceiving. While I agree, that's what I thought at first, if you think about what he actually did to fix the problem, him changing the saturation of the video wouldn't have made a difference. I'm not saying it might not seem deceiving but he didn't claim he fixed the color or anything like that. Besides, there are so many people out there who do these exact things when they claim they've corrected the color or restored an object. I know this because I know plenty of video editors and they have been asked to do the same thing and they do it.

3 separate occasions? i would never try and put it back in and wear it more than once and risk it again

The topaz looked like it was ready to fall out soon too, best to fix it permanently now before its lost

Your new design of the ring made it look like a much more expensive ring! I'm sure the owner was very happy!
