Interestingly, as a foodie, as soon as they said the Pringles mash was gluey, & like wallpaper paste, my mind said "overworked starches, plus Pringles probably have a lot of extra starch," 'cos that's what every food channel that's ever made mashed potatoes has said; "don't overwork the starch in your mashed potatoes, or you'll end up with wallpaper paste."
