  1. NOW I see you're pregnant. I didn't see it at all before your announcement hehe. It is so nice that you have fruits as snacks and such. We have too many fruit allergies in our home to have that available. I used to snack on cheese as a kid. My oldest loves fig bars as snacks. My middle child will make himself gyoza as a snack. My little one loves cheddar puffs (like pirate booty) and muffins. I make energy balls out of oat, peanut butter, honey, flaxseed, and mini chocolate chips as a snack.

  2. Good morning 🙏😊

Your videos are such a great way to stop for a few minutes, have a coffee and learn and fhe same time. Thank you for sharing your life with us.

I love to make my own “protein” bars and keep boiled eggs and fresh fruit for quick snacks. The cookies I keep are oatmeal raisin or cranberry and molasses cookies. The grandkids think it’s a treat and I know it’s good for them.

    Have a blessed week 🙏

  3. Lately I've been on a croissant kick. For a quick snack I love to slice a croissant in half, toast it & slather it w/ butter. We also really like applesauce w/ a sleeve of peanut butter crackers crumbled up in it.😋

  4. Try bringing your water to a boil before adding your eggs and cook your eggs 14 min. Put in cold water, crack the shells and peel right away. They come out of the shell so quick. I use a soup spoon to help “scoop” them out.

  5. I saw a cool egg hack video. Crack the eggs into a bowl and use it as a double boiler and the eggs get cooked and then you just cut them up for your hard boiled eggs. Seems sooooo much better than trying to peel eggs after they boiled. Worst thing ever. Thanks for the wonderful video and inspiration I need to rush to make the two bars you made I've been wanting to for a long time.

  6. Just think about the baking and cooking you’ll be doing when the boys get older! 😅

  7. Get ready…you have a house full of boys. Your kitchen skill will need to ramp up, TRIPLE TIME. Speaking from experience feeding 6’2”+ teenage boys. Consider two+ ovens and more pressure cookers/slow cookers in the kitchen. If you have the appliances you can triple the food easy.

  8. 🍪🥕 I love how simple yet nourishing your snacks are!
They truly show that even in the busiest days, we can still feed ourselves and our loved ones with care. Thank you for reminding us that slow, homemade food doesn’t need to be complicated. ❤

  9. Love the little snippets of you cooking with sound on! It makes it come to life in a way 😊

  10. Air popped popcorn, dates with peanut butter, hard boiled eggs and cheese are my go to snacks. Sadly, sometimes I fall out of my rhythm of planning for these snacks. Luck favors the prepared!

  11. I've used soft white freshly milled for 35 years for everything. I never consciously add more flour. The only advice I would give is that I never scrape off my measuring cups. I fill my cup up turned slightly to the side. Since we have a large family and we're farmers with a lot of Boys I have cooked a lot of food. I also don't film or vlog 😉so it doesn't need to look perfect. It's been so long that I have used the soft white I never think about it. I just have my mill on the finest grind setting, and I turn the knob down and slowly up if it stops grinding.

  12. We've been making a "trail mix" with pistachios, chocolate chips (I know, not always healthy….but yummy) and raisins. That's been a hit as of late.

  13. After listening to your podcast with sue becker, i invested in a grain mill and am loving experimenting with it. But so far ive milled soft white, spelt, and einkorn with great results. But every single time i milled hard white, the end result always had bits of sand in it. Has anyone else had this issue?

  14. I really need to make some bagels! Sometimes I'll make a batch of pumpkin muffins and they don't last long but normally a snack is fruit, yogurt, pb&j, or cheese.

  15. My 5 year old goes, "I wanna watch the bread making girl" 😂
We love watching your videos! They are always so calm, family friendly, and it encourages me to never give up on trying something new❤

  16. Since the beginning of the new year I have been inspired by you and have returned to using freshly milled flour for nearly all my baked goods. I have come to the same conclusion about soft wheat. It increased my baking flops and without any real noticeable benefit. I really find the hard white wheat gives me such consistent results, it is definitely my new go-to grain.
As always thanks for your inspiration and tips!

  17. Lovely snack ideas, Lisa! When my young adults were children we always had some sort of bread; they often had quesadillas; I made homemade granola and I taught them at a very young age to make deviled eggs for themselves. They loved peanut butter toast as well!

  18. I've been inspired by your 100% whole grain products, so I've been using my mill and making all kinds of savory and sweet muffins for my kids. I use Smitten Kitchen's Ultimate Zucchini Bread recipe, made into muffins, but I sub the zucchini for any kind of fruit.— subbing the soft white wheat (but adding more, like you and Sue said) and they are a favorite! I now want to make your "discard" crackers. I've been making crackers but adding flour, rolling them out with a pin–it's a lot of work. I'm going to try your method as it looks so much easier! Thank you for all you do, from all us moms out there. You make mothering feel meaningful and fun.

  19. I like to have frozen berries for a snack. Blueberries or mixed berries.

  20. I’m curious about your grain mill. Is there any way kids could stick their fingers where they could get hurt?

  21. My 23 year old ADHD son won't stop for anything including breakfast, so my husband puts out a small amount of porridge for him which he eats cold with a glass of goats milk! And I his mum will make ahead of time date, walnut with one egg cookies as well as hard boiled eggs, which he eats once he is settled in at work.
