When Emily’s garnet ring scratched up after just one year, she turned to me to bring her grandmother’s diamond back to life. The garnet, a 6.5 to 7.5 on the Mohs hardness scale couldn’t handle daily wear, so I resized her ring, rebuilt the broken prongs with a laser welder, and set her grandmother‘s diamond in its place. after tightening the loose side stones and giving the ring a full polish, this heirloom shines again, tougher than ever.

Transformed!
jesus, what is she doing with that ring? my partner has an amethyst ring (same hardness) that she uses everyday for a year and it isn't scratched at all.
Hey! I’m curious if you could possibly do a band replacement on a class ring of mine, I love the gems inside (the centerpiece being a lab grown Emerald which has a reddish hue in certain lighting and a ring of small lab grown diamonds around it) but the school it’s associated with caused me a lot of mental issues and trauma so I’ve been looking for a Jeweler to help me with this endeavor (hopefully for not too much money (like, no more than $150-200) cause we’re pretty tight on cash right now)
How much metal dust have you inhaled
It's beautiful, but I gotta seriously question wtf Emily was doing on the daily that would tear up her garnet like that. I've got garnet rings, some of them vintage. Any ring will be damaged if you're deliberately whacking it on stuff, Miss Emily. 🤨
I prefer the garnet to the diamond but this is definitely a good reason for a diamond
That's a beautiful ring!
Love the diamond! So pretty!
What do people do with their hands? Scratch them against every wall each of the 365 days of the year? That looks like a truck went over it.
Me likely! Were you able to polish off the scratches on the garnet? I love garnet. I went to a garnet mine once in Vermont and saved some of it in the house.
The diamond suits the ring so much better.
That’s why I like sapphires and rubies, usually far more colourful than most diamonds but they still have a decent hardness of about 9.
I don’t know if you answer questions but I have one I’d like to ask…
I’ve been looking at Mossy agates and stones like them and I think they’re absolutely gorgeous, but I was wondering about their durability and longevity. Would they be a good choice for a nice ring?
Incredible ❤❤❤
That ring is hideous, but you did a great job with it. The diamond definitely suits it better.
Why aren’t you using the GRS ring sizer?? it saves so much time and makes sizing and resizing twice as easy..
Quedo bonito
I owned a garnet ring. The stone didn't get scratches. I must say that I didn't wear my rings and other jewelry all day long. I would wear them when we went out. But once we get home I would take all my jewelry off and put them in my jewelry box. Im glad she got a ring she was happy with. 😊
The after looks amazing
What'd she do? Put in a blender???
I think I would have personally chosen a ruby to replace the garnet, but the diamond is definitely beautiful, and a sentimental stone is always a good choice. ❤
Are you a knipex man?
That's a pretty big rock! Lol
Looks great 👍
No way that ring was originally set with that garnet. My guess is the diamond is original to the ring and for whatever reason was replaced with the garnet.
Always with the lazer welder
One of the few I don't like.
That stone doesn't suit the ring like the Red garnet does
