Those goats are from a restaurant in Wisconsin that has them on there roof. I've eaten there and it's pretty good. I didn't know they had a cam, but I recognized it right away
We had a set of cams at the observatory I worked at, showed wildlife around the facility as well as the buildings themselves. We actually used them to check on snow conditions but it was cool to have year round.

How can I protect my webcam from this? I use an old laptop to alert me automatically if the maintenance crew for my apartment enters my room, so I won’t cover the lens.
England has loads of open webcams put up by local government to allow anyone to admire local attractions, main streets, beaches or just fields.

I have absolutely been to that site or one similar and as far as I can tell it's mostly security cams, traffic cams, and a few hobby monitors like the train set one. I think one camera was just watching an empty house. These days though, a lot of people are literally just streaming this stuff on Twitch. Someone I know has a turtle aquarium cam set up like 18 hours a day and made affiliate with it.
Between all of the cheap compromised devices from Asia and the lack of support updates and overall weakness of IoT to current or future breaches… I don't trust "smart devices" with cameras or mics not to be recording at all times. Even "reputable" companies like Samsung, Amazon and Google have been busted recording since they need to have voice recognition on for their features. Even Tesla employees were caught making fun of a Tesla owner who was naked and recorded by their vehicle.
