This is a video that I HIGHLY relate to, my mom would also tell me to not do the chores and just focus on my studies.

I think a way to raise your child well is to find a very good balance based on what they prefer. If they prefer to be in a free, safe space, then get them more into the things like cooking because cooking is pretty creative while also keeping their studies in check. If they prefer organised, scheduled settings, then go for studies but also teach them the basics of cooking like boiling or frying an egg.

I’m so happy to hear that, although they should have taught you cooking as a life skill as it did cause a problem in the future. Everyone should know how to cook, the only problem is society thinking only one sex should learn to cook for the other. We’re not hunter-gatherers anymore so those dynamics should be left behind in the caves as well

I mean this is more like I learned how to make toast because other than that……there is no cooking in this dish at all lol.

I sneer at in laws who are annoyingly lazy and stupid in the kitchen. So I ask , your skill is opening your legs when you got married? My brothers, their husband's cook too. They just sit around when visiting ancestral home , phone fiddling with their well manicured hands , displaying signature purses, but not earning money for it. The new generation thinks they are the Kardashians.

You were the victim of reverse psychology. Congrats.

I was never forced to cook, my father had very limited time with me because he worked in another state, he's only at home 2 days a week, and when he was at home sometimes he would invite me to watch him cook just so we could talk a little more, eventually i wanted to help him occasionally and that turned into me making whole meals while he helped me. That gradual and lovely introduce to food and cooking made me love the process, and that's what teaching should be like

Same with me. My parents never forced me to cook but are very aggressive about my education and studies ???? .. I eventually fall in love with studying more but I also love to cook sometimes . I'm 24 years old , still learning to make rotis which is very difficult job in my opinion ????

Everyone, of all genders, should learn how to cook. It is an essential part of growing up, a skill that you will need no matter what
