Remember that scene in John Wick where he breaks through his basement floor to get to some gold coins- well I’m not John Wyck but I can show you how to put in a curbless shower.
First, I build a wood box the same dimensions as the shower floor.
The guys pour the concrete on the inside of the box level with the bottom, and on the outside of the box level with the top.
This way the floor of the shower ends up being two-and-a-half inches lower, and my tile guy has room to slope to the drain without needing a curb.
Not only will this give us a clean modern look, but it will make it easier to get in and out of- especially for someone that’s elderly.
We all know The New Guy’s not getting any younger.
Speaking of The New Guy, he actually stopped by to check in on me.
I told him I could really use his help breaking through this concrete to get to the drain underneath.
He said he would love to- but unfortunately, he had a dentist’s appointment and needed to take off.
Now we could’ve stubbed a pipe right through the floor, but my plumber thought it’d be better to leave it cut off underneath this we he could put the drain exactly centered and at the right height in the shower.
We’ll glue a trap on this pipe and fill around it with cement when we get ready to install the shower.
In the meantime, I put a scrap of OSB over it, so no one breaks their ankle.
The guys started framing this week, so make sure to like and follow to see more of this build. @hausplans

New guy needs to be voted Employee-of-the-Day/Week/Month/Year. ❤️🐶
What do you call those things, beams, the playwood (we call it OSB board) with two planks. (This is when you know your English really isn't that good, when you search for words you never use in your daily life) …
Those who can’t, teach.
Looks great man
Cut first then break it out.
Great job. I hope the new guys dentist appointment went well.❤
I like how you include your doggo.
Good choice with the TGI floor joists 👍
The new guy needs steel toe boot boots…. And a belly rub.
a dentist appointment.. ha a likely story.. lol love the new guy!!
could of just built another 12”x12” box at drain pipe and save the sledge hammer 🤷🏻♂️
He!!, I would almost want a sunken shower so there is never a chance a kid uses it and floods the bathroom.
HIT!!! HIT!!! HIT!!!
I love watching builds, but, I’d love to see an interesting build idea I have. A group of ten Tiny Homes, built around a community center in the middle, surrounded by a lot of natural growth and greenery. The community center would have a commercial kitchen, additional bathrooms with ADA showers in them, and a large shared living space where families or parties for sports games could be played. Each tiny home, would be 600 sq ft or less, and aside for those with lofts be designed to meet ADA requirements so those who are veterans, and can’t afford a lot, or the lower income disabled – such as myself – would have a place to live they could afford, and have neighbors to look after, and likewise.
HA HA…. THE NEW GUY! I LOVE IT
I run a stone slinger doing gravel for new construction slabs. Never seen any of our local builders do this. Love it!!
Brilliant idea, wish I'd have known that 30 years ago. Too bad the new guy had an appointment 🙄, I'm sure he woulda loved that challenge 😅
Love your dog❤. He really needs to schedule his dentist appointments before or after work though😄
Why didn't you block out to the drain?😅
Hold that box up so it’s flush with the concrete and you don’t have to break anything
I’m not sure that’s right I would stub the pvc up above the concrete than sleeve it with cardboard and a peice of sewer pipe or 3 inch to give enough slack to move it and cut it when need be atleast that’s how we do it at work
Dang on new guy
Yea new guy!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Whenever there is a sledge involved, I also feel the need to visit the dentist….New Guy is no fool!❤️🐕
The hard hat on the dog is hilarious 😂
You should make a long video
I didn’t see them stimulate the concrete with the vibrator!
