Getting caked-on food off your pots is possible. All you need is a little time and elbow grease.
Step 1: Sprinkle baking soda
Sprinkle baking soda in the pot or pan, so it coats the bottom entirely.
Step 2: Moisten with water
Add enough warm water for the baking soda to become a paste.
Step 3: Wait
Let it sit for at least ten minutes; the longer you let it soak, the better. The sodium bicarbonate will penetrate the stuck-on food and loosen it.
Tip
No baking soda? Use a wet fabric softener sheet; it contains antistatic agents that will loosen the bond between the food and the pot.
Step 4: Wipe
Wipe the pot with a sponge or damp paper towel.
Step 5: Don’t give up
Food still stuck? Add more baking soda and water, and this time boil the mixture in the pot for a few minutes. Let it cool, then wipe clean.
Did You Know?
When mixed with water, baking soda can also soothe a bee sting, clean teeth, and keep a drain clog-free.
If its still not working good enough, try using lemon juice instead of water.
Thank you I managed to avoid a whopping from my mother!
This still works in 2021 ! Mine was severely burnt chic noodles(thot I turned off, but turned up high and went to bathroom!) Household of people smelled it ! And I got it turned off but not before it burned….tried to eat off top
…so it sat there for hours before I had a chance to check out…..stuff on thick layer of burned food——–looks like a new pot today !
This worked. Thanks
Thought I ruined a very expensive pot. Worked great. Thanks so much. I went straight to the boiling since the crust was pretty thick.
I am so surprised no one mentioned WD-40 🙂 Though it works better and much faster than boiling with soap I may think twice about cooking in that pot again
My SO used my nonstick cookie sheet on an open flame grill. It’s ruined????????????
Trying this on a pot soon
it still didn't work but I didn't want to get in trouble so I threw it out
I thought you have to use vinegar as well
this totally worked and this totally saved my skin from my mom
For burnt on food in pots or pans add one cup full of clothes detergent two litres of tap water an place on cooker until u have half cup left in pan .switch heat off leave to soak an cool then lightly scrub job done
