  1. I did that this year with my leeks – didn't know it was a thing!

  2. Jess densely sows her tomatoes but she separates each seedling out a few weeks later. What Luke is referring to here is letting beets, onions, etc grow in clumps together until maturity. Tomatoes won't grow well at all if you have 2-3 mature plants grown together, they need to be spaced apart. The onions/beets/etc can be placed 2-3 in one spot bc they'll press against each other and grow outwards and you'll still have decently sized harvests

  3. Honestly by now I just multisow my leafy plants like salad, mangold, pak choi, they might grow a but slower in the container but as soon as you thin them out into your plot, they are just as healthy and they space reduction while sowing is huge.

  4. I love this method. I use recycled yogurt and protein powder containers as well. Thanks for videos and encouragement.

  5. I had 208 onion seedlings in one pot, like the red one that he showed, maybe a little bigger.
I counted them when I planted them out Saturday. You can see the community post on my channel.
    I have other 2 pots ????
I need to decide where to put them.

  6. O. M. G. You just made my day, Luke!! ????????????????

Ohio…6a here. I’m planting carrots for the first time this year.

I was worried that by direct sowing them in early April, they wouldn’t have enough time to mature…before the hot summer days hit (start of June here).

So I can start them indoors now…3 per pot…and transplant them outside in about 3 weeks?!? ????????????????????

This will give them the time they need to mature. Yay!!

    Thank you!!

  7. I have a question I hope you might see. Are you dealing with Harlequinn bugs in your area at all? They have started to invade my area pretty badly. They absolutely destroy all of my brassicas. I am thinking about buying pirate bugs and mantis to try to control them. they get out of hand fast.

  8. I've multi-sewn a number of types of crops but haven't tried doing it with carrots and beets. With tomatoes, peppers, squash and cucumbers, one seed goes in each corner of the 3" pot and one in the middle. I pot the up the tomatoes and peppers after they're about 3 inches tall. The squash get planted. It's worked pretty well. Multi-sewing sure does save space!

  9. Thanks Luke! Excellent timing! I'm starting red cipollini and spring onions today. I've also started beets in t.p. rolls. They're Really easy to plant in the garden.
    Blessings!????????????????

  10. Charles Dowding tends to transplant many vegetables in the garden in groups. I’m going to group sow seeds coming up here also. I’m running out of space. Timing it so they don’t get to big before it warms up. I just grouped all the cells of onions in a bottom end of milk jugs. They seem happy as they’ve had 6 haircuts already.

  11. Winter sowing tomatoes! I should have known it would work. I'm always getting tomato volunteers in the garden. I'm going to plant some right now !!

  12. Didn’t realize I was multisewing when I let my toddler dump a bunch of onion seeds by accident in one container. This whole time I was like whatever survives is good enough lol. Thank god onions are fine being sowed close together haha maybe I’ll get more than I thought ???? thanks for the info!
