How to swap out a 3-prong dryer cord for a new 4-prong plug

The correct way to install a 4 prong, 30 Amp, dryer cord, and explain why it’s the correct way, after removing the 3 wire that came on it when it was purchased from Marketplace. Hopefully it works

  1. What about a 4 wire new dryer to a 3 wire ? Is that possible? New dryer old outlet situation

  2. as a german electrican the differances in color and build of the socket are realy intresting to see

  3. Erm..please add shrink on the terminal claw so conductive parts arent so exposed..please.

  4. Thank god someone show this to the appliance idiots that are installing these things please. Tripping my dryer outlets all the time

  5. Here in Australia:

*plugs dryer plug into standard 240v/10A wall outlet with almost zero effort*

  6. I wish I seen this sooner! literally had to do this for a new dryer we got. 3 to a 4. everything I found was 4 to a 3 but nothing to show difference between wires (every video was grey to grey) we got an adapter instead

  7. Loved learning about US 240V applications. As someone who mostly works with low voltage DC, the color change had me messed up for a bit. But the red and black both being two separate 120V hot wires, yet sharing the neutral wire was a pretty neat concept. I am glad that I decided to start learning more about AC electronics. It's very similar to what I am familiar with in many ways, and simultaneously entirely alien to the DC I know and love.

  8. Or you can leave the neutral wire bonded to the frame like the delivery guys do, so it trips the gfci breaker thats now required

  9. As a car audio hobbyist seeing green as ground and not black as ground is absolutely dumb… red is positive, black is negative (ground)

  10. Bro i went to fix my washer and it was all rusted out completely broken under the washer drum
