  1. I can scarcely swim, much less dive, but I get the allure of rotating timing bezels. The only wstch I possess with a "proper" timing bezel, however, is a vintage Seiko 6139 chronograph. But, two of my other watches, both also Seikos (a 017 Alpinist, and, very recently, a 5 Sports GMT) can also be used this way, simply by placing the bezel's reference-point forward of the minute hand to your desired time. This actually comes in handy when I'm doing the Iron Chef thing and timing several things at once, and Google is already busy with at least one of them. (Since the 6139 also possesses a chronograph functions, it can handle two timed events at once.)

  2. Finally i understand. Couldn’t wrap my brain around the use of those things. I happy now good work teddy ????

  3. Lol I thought I was stupid for using it like this because I'm not a diver and never watched any videos on how to use it till now

  4. I used this when I was school monitor. Because we needed to switch bell manually.

  5. Since I've stopped going scuba diving, my bezel is now used for timing when the take away is ready ????

  6. I use my bezel almost daily. Elapsed time walking the dog, when I'm grilling it helps me to remember to flip the meat every five minutes as well as the overall cooking time, and I set the index to an upcoming appointment time (I use the hour hand in that case). You could even use it as a reminder to do something by purposely setting it off the 12 o'clock position – when your OCD kicks in and you go to fix it, you remember that you did it for a reason.

  7. So why can't we just see where the minute hand was and then check the time again and know how much time has passed? Genuine doubt

  8. That Marathon GSAR is beautiful, now only if I can find one for $20 ???? hopefully one day I can buy one.

  9. Personally, I'd set the zero marker the 10 minutes etc from the minute hand.
Reason being, most bezels only have this marker lumed.

  10. I generally use it as a count down timer – I’ll adjust it to the current minute hand and use the blip on the the bezel to move it the elapsed time need like say 5 mins- 10 mins. And I really do this when I’m cooking with out a chronograph and it’s with pasta too????

  11. The dive watch bezel is what got me into chronographs. Haven't looked back since.
