Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark πŸ™‚

  1. G'day Everyone, if you are interested, go here to get Birdies Raised Garden beds (featured in the video) in the USA: https://shop.epicgardening.com/ and use SSME2020 for a 5% discount plus an automatic extra 15% (20% combined discount) for purchases made before 11.59 pm Monday 30th May *Minimum spend $200. No pressure, of course, I just appreciate you watching my videos and this support on its own helps my channel out heaps. Thanks πŸ™‚

  2. To me it wasn't so much about money as balance in your life. You sacrificed income for your children and made a better life for all of you. And you did it and are an example to ask of us!

  3. Not only PTSD but you missed the amazing difference in the organic physical health benefits. My adult son's behavior who has Asperger's, when switching to my organic foods, is like a night and day difference. πŸ‘

  4. When a clickbait video turns out to not be clickbait…..onya Mark & family! And agreed- victory gardens are back in style again!

  5. Love the story Mark! Thnx for being honest and pure. Your vids were the inspiration I started growing food and herbs in my little backyard. All the best from The Netherlands.

  6. AND THANKS FOR YOU MARK for your time in the "line"!!! Not sure if they have something similar over there like we do here but again thanks for your hard work. πŸ‘ love ya

  7. This is why I love this channel. So genuine, heartfelt and original Thank you and you wife for your service to a great ally in Australia. God bless those that have fallen for my Freedom here in the States. In the end, we are all one race…the Human race.

  8. πŸ’― Appreciate you as always, Mark! Bummed we couldn't meet up this month in Oz, but it'll happen soon πŸ™‚ – cheers and appreciate your service. You're EPIC. – Kevin

  9. Blown up in Afghanistan. 14 surgeries. Infantry. I will tell you that you helped me a lot. Also really good like you said being outside. I now have an entire greenhouse system for dozens of seeds and plants for winter that saves on buying plants and rushing to get them at the store. These raised beds have been great. Not fun at all to fill but you showed me using logs at the bottom as a way to save on dirt. I just wanted to say thank you. And will continue to support and use code when I need to buy.

  10. Love your channel and your garden, it's value is priceless, you have been gifted with green fingers! Cheers.

  11. American here. Last time our government was involved in anything remotely resembling a just and necessary war was WWII. Everything else has been driven by corporate and governmental greed, interference in other sovereign nation affairs, desire for greater control and power in strategic areas, etc.

The best thing that US military people could do to protect and serve their country is to stop being cannon fodder for psychopathic plutocrats, and fight for actual just causes.

  12. Thanks for you and your wife serving in your Country! I agree!!! Gardening is pretty much a must now. I have always food gardened and it's a bit of work, BUT the freshness of the food that comes out of it is so great! And the cost is so much cheaper than stores. Thankful for your channel! I love your food forest!!!! Thanks for mentioning our Memorial Day! Thankful for all that gave their ALL!!! God Bless!
