I Just Spent $2800 on a Rebar Tier- Was It Worth It?

I just spent $2800 bucks on a rebar tier – watch this video and tell me if it was a waste of money or a smart move.
I’ve wanted one of these for years but could never bring myself to spend the money.
This is 100% not a paid ad, but all the research I did led me to this MAX Twintier- it actually ties the rebar with twin wires.
Check it out in slow motion- it sends out two wires, wraps them around the rebar, ties it off, and then bends the ends down so they won’t poke you- all in ½ a second.
It can tie rebar as large as two #7s together.
My wife loves it too- we just spent two full days putting rebar in the basement of the house we’re building, and this saved so much time.
It beeps to let you know when you’re out of wire and once you know what you’re doing it’s easy to switch it out.
I was averaging around 250 ties per spool. This gun uses 19 gauge wire- here you can see the two wires on the spool.
It has a load-assist button the helps to feed the wire into the tier.
One complaint people have about these guns is they say they don’t tie as tight or as strong as you can do by hand, so I decided to test it out and made a little ladder out of rebar.
It held my 190 lbs. — not that I’m recommending you do this.
We just passed inspection on this, but not sure when we will pour because now they’re calling for snow. @hausplans

  1. I am pretty sure you could slightly tilt the machine and do a double bind if you need it more robust. The second one should be just simply in the opposite direction but also a bit tilted.

  2. When i was a young mechanic, i never wanted to spend the money to make my life easier at work. Now, in my mid-40s, i spend the cash and have nice tools that make my job easier good for you 👍

  3. I worked at a place that made precast walls and I loved it when the company switched to one of those 😊

  4. Why is it so overpriced ? $2800 ? What pharmaceutical company makes that thing ?

  5. My friend of mine says they work really good….. EXCEPT, the toll will not hawg it up tight. The rebar must be touching each other.

  6. I think they had those at my old job. I made cad drawings at a precast concrete company, that made water management structures, like culverts and catch basins.

  7. Congratulations on getting one! A branded one costs around a 800 bucks upwards I think. Using one is so therapeutic. I feel like I can't live without one of those again 😂

  8. I don’t know anything about the type of work you do or the tools, but this looks cool! I’m just imagining going through corner by corner and manually wrapping that around by hand vs using this thing lol. Looks very efficient!

  9. All right I change my answer. If I'm ever stranded on a desert island, THIS is my one item I choose.

  10. the geometry is perfect how 2 wires go into short section of the tool from the long section.

  11. Having tied thousands of ties by hand i can honestly say this is the best investment you could have made.
When the company i was with got two of these i realized that theres no comparison

  12. There is no greater feeling than purchasing a game changing tool

We get burned far too often.. finding something that turns into a genuine EDU tool only happens a couple of times a career

  13. People not in construction: "it costs HOW MUCH?!"

People in construction: "it can save me HOW MUCH TIME?!"
