I had so much fun with this – I’ve been wanting to make an ironing station like this for ages (in fact, that’s why I picked out the spider-covered batting when my friend’s uncle needed to clear out their garage, all those years ago!) It is extra satisfying that I bought nearly nothing for this project, just the red paint, handles, and the nuts/bolts. I kind of miss the dolphins though – I should definitely add my own decorative painted elements someday (maybe spiders? I saw SO MANY while sanding this).

Cotton Batting – I have no clue what the brand was since I removed the cover so long ago, but it would have been something like this: https://amzn.to/42vPnYU

  1. I'm literally so impressed how you manage to find amazing things on thredup all the time. I feel like every time I look I find nothing at all interesting…or interesting in a 0_o way.

  2. It's always a great day when you post a new video 🙂 you're absolutely my favorite creator your videos are such a comfort and joy

  3. Watch for mould in the badding from steam ironing. The wood and thickness will make it hard to air.
Love the transformation, that chest is total goals!!

  4. I don't think I've ever seen an iron actually die on someone. Ours has kept working since before I was born.

  5. What a supercool ironing board! Came out so great. And that purring at the end…priceless.

  6. I LOVE it! Claret red and olive green are my go-to colors every time. I've made several ironing board covers and tabletop ironing pads over the years and they're great…And I've learned a few things for those beginners, ONLY USE cotton or wool batting or ironing board fleece because poly batting will melt over time and become a lumpy mess. The same goes for the top fabric, Natural fibers ONLY! I Use an extra wide ironing board and I have a shaped batting layer with a cotton twill top that has a casing and drawstring to hold it in place around the frame, then I have a second heavy muslin that too is shaped and pulls tight with a drawstring around to the underside of the frame. Why two layers? Because I like using fusible interfacing and its residue is felt behind all the time and it makes it easier to remove the top cover and was. What a great project Mizz Morgan, you always are an inspiration!

  7. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time!! I don't currently have the space for a dedicated ironing dresser/cabinet, but I made a portable ironing board similar to what you have but smaller. I plop it on my table when I need to iron.

  8. I LOVE your new ironing station! The color is fantastic too. I've been working on one thats very similar (except the dresser I have is longer). In your case, you could get a wooden basket and hang it from the side for extra storage – it'd be a great place to hold interfacing or rolled fabric or even sewing magazines.
Isn't having wool on the ironing board a game changer? I don't have to use a clapper since I put wool fabric under the cloth ironing board cover I made.
And get a gravity feed iron. Once you have one you won't want to go back to regular domestic irons. I love my gravity feed as there's no auto-shutoff, it gets HOT, the water tank is HUGE and you can replace parts on it so it's more eco-friendly.

  9. Great idea! I wonder if a hinged tapered section on one end could be added (like a drop-leaf) to help iron sleeves, etc.

  10. This is a clever idea! I’ve always wanted to live in a house where there’s room to build an ironing board into the wall.

  11. Hmm, turn my dresser into an ironing station? We are downsizing so I've lost my sewing room, this looks like a pretty good option for a bedroom sewing space. I'm just concerned that it might not be tall enough for my poor old back. I love the grey dress, great find!

  12. What a great use of a rescued bureau! I have one with a burnt surface that I could repurpose!

  13. Oh this is neat but also MA'AM I MUST KNOW WHEN YOU GOT A CAT! I love Clara, the little meow!

  14. Petition to rename wide legged pants ✨hobbit pants✨.

Love the end result, ironing tables are peak useful. And that red is perfection

  15. wunderfull idea and what a beautifull cat. whats thevrace and what is her/his name?

  16. Hi Morgan!???? Hi Clara!????‍⬛
Lovely project! That sanding and scraping was quite a bit of work!???? It looks lovely!!! It fits my standards of pretty and practical.
I think I would miss the pointed end of the traditional ironing board shape and maybe a sleeve board. But that could be added easily on either end as a pop up extension.
When I worked full time as a bookkeeper, I had recently discovered Rayon clothing at Fashion Bug. I set up an ironing board in my bedroom in a corner. I ironed my clothes every morning to wear each day.
When I'm kissing my boy kitty Gandalf during cuddles He smells like freshly steam ironed rayon. One more thing to love about him.
Is Clara new in your family? She's very pretty!
Oh, I'm loving your red and blond highlights. I appreciate your love of red. We have a red shag rug in our boringly carpeted apartment living area. It brings me Joy daily!
Thank you for sharing and bringing us along on your creative adventures! Hugs & Sparkles! ????❤️✨????????????‍⬛????
