A little burnt subzi never hurt anyone! Also…it honestly looks really black at the bottom of the pan in the video but the subzie didn't burn 🙂

Hi…in case you're interested. I launched my organic simmer and sauté spice business. You can get more information at easyindianfoods (dot) com or search for Easy Indian on Amazon in gourmet foods!

Tadka spices are used in the beginning of the recipe. You could add more if you wanted, but I like it without too much spice. You can use lemon juice…just squeeze at the end. And yes…a little crispy 😉

Fox Eye Investigations Inc. says:

Hey miss that's kinda weird u ain't drop tadka in that… N if its lol burnt it's awesome lol …does lemon juice works good instead of mango powder?

Richa Mishra says:

@cherokeeprincess2010 Hi. I did make the tardka at the beginning–I start by heating oil and adding spices. I did not add tomatoes onions, ginger, garlic because I wanted to keep this recipe simple. I also like to mix dishes up so they don't all taste the same. Also, in our family, we add amchoor toward the end. The chili powder wasn't added in the begging because it often starts to smoke and causes people to gag–by adding it toward the end, you can still get the kick without tearing up.

@heartsafecooking I'm actually working on an organic food business and spices mixes are my first products. If you can get your hands on bulk organic spices…get them…they are amazing. Let me know if you want to order any online and I'll send you a place (but they do charge shipping).

@Archanavenkat77 Thanks for the comment. Unless you are going to use a lot of oil, you are going to risk having a little bit of the pan bottom looking as if the dish burns. I can assure you, the dish did not burn. Second, if you use golden or red potatoes and chop them into thin slices or small pieces, they will cook. If you use the brown russet potatoes and chop them into large pieces, they will not cook. Hope you have a great day and keep smiling!

Oracle Geek says:

Seriously lousy! Your pan got burnt towards the end and you din't seem to care, continued mixing it! LOL!
Also, potatoes take longer to cook than bell peppers, so I am sure your potato in this dish is not cooked or the bell pepper is overcooked! CRAP!

@chickyfinn Thanks chickyfinn! You might also like the green bean recipe. Enjoy!!

That looks incredible! Gotta try that soon. Thanks.

@sswatster Thanks…I'm working on it…let me know if you'd like me to make anything in particular. I did recently post a lal masoor dal (lentils) video.

EasyIndian says:

@aarti4628 Great…let me know how it turns out. I use organic bulk spices which are quite strong. If your spices are from a package and have been around for a while, you might need to double the cumin/coriander/chili powder quantities for this recipe since bell peppers have a strong taste.
