Sorry but that is not true ! You are misleading people. MSG is bad for your brain 🧠 long term. You have to be careful which study 📚 you read. There are multiple studies don’t indicating bad long term affect to the brain 🧠 and you stomach.

MSG is bad and harmful ONLY when you consume a significant amount of it daily just like how the other seasonings work. Remember that even vitamins and minerals are good only with suggested doses.

And yet so many people claim that MSG causes migraines. Not just headaches but migraines. And those same people have no problem consuming foods that naturally contain MSG. 😏 As an actual migraine sufferer, I find that infuriating.

Okay here's some education: MSG is monosodium glutamate. Which is an amino acid and the sodium makes it easier for your body to uptake. Our taste buds can detect the glutamate. Which makes the food taste better. The "Chinese food syndrome" was also a racial scare tactic. And the primary cause was the Americanized Eastern foods were very high in sodium and sugar which was not as prevalent in normal American cuisine at the time giving people headaches from the big change in diet. And didn't actually have anything to do with MSG.

MSG actually can cause headaches and migraines. I can personally attest to this. At least that part is true.

What does straight MSG taste like? If it's a flavor enhancer, does it still have its own flavor? Asking genuinely.

  7. @IHaveNoMouthAndIMustEat

Yup. Its literally just different salt and because of that its exactly as dangerous as normal salt.

  8. @OffBrandPringles

MSG and Shaoxang cooking wine is literally the best worst kept secret to making tasty af food

No offense but thats what they said about artificial sweeteners like aspartame and sorbitol (natural). They said it was harmless and had no side effects on the long run.
Turns out they are linked with weight gains, lowered steroid hormones and hemoglobin levels and negatively affects anti-inflammatory cytokines as well.

But whyyy is it okay? What is it? Where does it come from? Where do they get the powder? Who am I? What year is it? Where are my pants???

I work with girls who always have parmesan but say msg is horrible. Should i tell them parmesan is full of it.

MSG is generally considered safe because current research has not found conclusive evidence of significant health risks, although more studies are needed to fully understand its long-term effects.
