With very few exceptions dining at these types of places and what are considered "fancy" or "fine dining" is very rarely about the food being better, it is about the experience. Don't get me wrong I get am not saying that there is none that have good food and understand the appeal to people who enjoy those types of places, but as someone who used to try all sorts of places when living in Europe and while traveling the U.S. with my ex wife for our jobs I have found hole in the wall diners with sticky tables and a 75 year old updo wearing woman with no time or patience that have food that would rival Michelin star restaurants with a staff of performers as wait staff that served food that tastes better than anything on tic tok looks. Those places usually come with a far better experience if you take time to talk to the regulars and locals too.

As someone who worked in a few restaurants including some reall fancy ones in switzerland, this is actually a really fkin good price, the welligton could of easily cost 120 a dish

17 dollars tax would pay a family meal with a whole chicken in pollo tropical or 2 family pork.
Just in case you go broke one day.
