Whereabouts would I find the non-ADD version of that sourdough asmr?
I don't think it's confusing, it's just pandering to the super short attention span of young folks and MAKING IT WORSE. I don't use tik tok (or instagram) at all because I pre-date the "ooh, look, something shiny" movement
Mike, your channel and content are so inspiring, thoughtful, creative and educational. I had a YouTube channel for a couple years. It is a LOT of work and I don’t think people realize how much effort it takes to create content and come up with new content. I don’t watch TV, I watch videos, like yours that educate AND entertain me. I get annoyed by the shorts, they are a waste of my time. I don’t watch Tik Tok because that is also a waste of my time. I choose YouTube over TV because I can watch what I want when I want and it’s fun and educational, making it worth my time. I love your channel, your content, personality and all you do. Please don’t give up. You’re pretty awesome at it.
Sorry, I don't even watch Tik Tok. YouTube all the way. ????
Your videos are much more educational and give amateurs the confidence to try new techniques. Short ticktok videos are good for scrolling through during the morning commute, but your videos actually provide useful advice and information, all broken down in a really digestible way. I remember your induction vs electric vs gas video ultimately swayed my decision over which hob to get. Keep up the good work all the way from the UK
TikTok is utter trash for food content.
I watch YouTube cooking for recipes and ways to use food items better. I use YouTube Shorts to be entertained or when I have insomnia. It's impossible to learn a recipe on Shorts — I might get some cultural context or some botany. Your short demo here has nothing to do with actually baking bread, it's MTV.
Short form can complement long form really well if you use it to “zoom in”. Try to go deep on a technique or experience or idea, and not cram a whole recipe into 60s. Like the videos of cutting veges, or just you walking and smelling the air in your garden. Short form is often about pulling viewers into an experience, which is why audio works well. Imagine a bored commuter or a frazzled chef wanting a brief escape. Give them 60s of pure human experience. And make sure you have fun doing it! ????
TikTok is a cancer. Some short videos have their place, but the vast majority is just vacuous garbage for people with no attention span.
I loathe youtube shorts. My subscription feed now is like 2/3rds shorts, and more than half of those shorts are just regurgitated clips of the longer videos I've already seen from those creators. I just installed a chrome extension that outright hides all shorts on youtube, and its so much better now.
I feel that TikTok and short form videos really cater to the adhd, short attention and quick dopamine seeking kids of this generation and i dont like it.
Im 28 so its my generation so idk lol but i feel stuff like this can have bad repercussions in the future and we dont know it yet. Considering society is so emotional and sensitive as is, plus people with short attention span have exponentially grown probably due to an easier dopamine access. I think with all sincerity that tiktok and short form vids are a bit dangerous…
I don’t prefer the short formats. If you want to make most of them you end up having to go there Instagram I whatever format they use.
I think the last category is “hot person cooking”.
I strongly dislike the Shorts on YouTube and I don’t like tik tok. I prefer to immerse myself in meaningful content
yep. ok so… @9:18… you can just go ahead and toss my headset out the window. my fucking misophonia sent me for a fuckin' roller coaster, and I legit unsubbed from your channel for a moment. lol that's the level of hatred i have for mouth sounds and would implore you to never do that again. Love the content, so re-subbed 😉
Tiktok is just the sample aisle to taste test content you’d like to commit to following on YouTube – its hard to have time to watch lots of different long length content. You can only only commit so much and prioritize what you’re gonna watch. It’s a big time commitment and which is why TikTok is such a great alternative to sample new stuff and variety in between your main long length content. Sometimes you find a sample that replaces that main content you don’t prioritize any more
