Laser welding to fix my own mistake

Ava brought me a bold vintage cocktail ring that needed a simple resize… But things didn’t go as planned. As I soldered the shank, the gold suddenly started to bubble and melt— classic porosity. It’s rare, but when it happens, it happens fast.

Watch how I salvaged the damage, rebuilt the ring, and brought the smoky topaz statement piece back to life.

Many people ask me about my lighter collection. I get most of my vintage lighters from eBay and new ones from www.ThorensLighter.com ⬅️ This is not an affiliate link and they do not pay me to use their lighters. I just find them to be really cool, well made, and reasonably affordable.

  1. I love when people show their mistakes and dont shy away from it. Mistakes will happen to everyone and they're usually the best moments to learn and teach

  2. I am here for the jewelry repair techniques, but I am staying for the interesting lighter collection

  3. Yeah the laser is spot welding and the torch probably get the entire joint up to temp instead of surface and some underneath

  4. Seeing mistakes and how to fix them, learning why they happen and your thought process is really important and a good show of experience.
