U can also split wood if you have a good fixed blade knife
Sweet dead blow hammer.
pay attention to grain direction, beginners!
I remember using this technique in my school woodwork class to build a table. It is indeed extremely satisfying
Chisels are awesome.
Probably the single most time saving tip I've ever learned.
Ive seen a few clips of yours and have been thinking about getting into woodworking, I can certainly tell you know what youโre talking about, subscribed
Ah yes, the Paul Sellers method
Thank you so much for this and all your other tips and tricks
Great tips !
Debating hard if I should risk this in class rn
Use a tenoning jig and save a ton of time.
10/10 tip for someone learning theses
Hatchet is just 2 chisels. Saw is just alternating tiny chisels. Screw is just twisty chisel. Chisel is life
That is just the normal way to do that.
We were taught this technique in shop class in middle school lol
I did it one time on accident while working on a piece
If i do the last step u showed then the ends of the wood will split off, idk why, my tools are sharp.
Almost like it was meant to do that ๐ฎ
Really sure you check the grain first
Two words for that cleanup, REBATE. PLANE.
I love splitting wood ๐ชต ๐ช
Why not just continue with the hand saw?
Nice! However, I'd wish that you would have mentioned that old school woodworkers would do as you demonstrated. However, they would only do it with certain species of wood. And some particular species of wood split cleaner under different humidity conditions. But, if the ambient (inside) vs outside weather/humidity conditions change, then the splitting can alter characteristics of the wood- yielding to a greater possibility of bowing.
I don't see it, but an old-timer told me, so I believed him.
