MAKING A QUILT FOR ME – ALENTEJANA, My #declutterchallenge2023 quilt

We all dream of having the right pattern with the right amount of fabric with the right amount of time to devote to it. Well this miracle happened to me this past January with my Alentejana quilt by Ships & Violins. And I loved it so much I’m keeping it. Come along with me as I show you how I did.

  6. Thank you Karen. I had to smile when you said you "looked into my fabric cupboard" ???? as I only have 5 fat quarters in my "stash". We spent several rainy days last week emptying the attic AND my small craft space. The attic is empty and the MANY craft items have been diminished to just the basics for quilting and writing. The relief is palpable at not being psychologically buried under it all. Your Declutter Challenge this year was the catalyst – thank you. Stay well. ????????

    PS. Your quilt is beautiful and I smiled at the photo where Mando, in the background, seems to be peeking over the fence ????.

  8. Karen, I wonder if when you started this channel, you would ever have thought how helpful, inspirational and interesting it would be. Thank you for all your input into the world of quilting that I have only recently dipped my toe into. I for one am very appreciative.

  12. Beautiful quilt! The work was worth it. I like it better than the solids. The quilting is wonderful also. You have developed "mad skills" on the longarm.

  19. It's really lovely, both the pattern and the colours you used! And it reminds me how much I hope that one day soon you'll do a video on what to take into consideration when deciding how to quilt a quilt: how to chose a design or designs, what tools (such as Westalee or Silly Moon rulers), how best to manage quilting on a domestic machine. I'd love to hear your thoughts and advice on all these issues. (Yes, I'm currently stumped, and the quilt sandwich is glaring at me!)
