That might be knock off pyrex. I don’t remember off the top of my head which is which but Pyrex and pyrex without the capitalization are different. If I’m remembering right the official company allowed some other company to use the name but with the capitalization switched. This other company makes inferior products that misleadingly look the same.
holy heck eye protection and actually a heat proof pyrex, not all of them are!
Lower heat lets everything mix better as well. Maybe try using a pot inside a pot of water as a median.
Pyrex cracked from heat application or cooling to rapidly?
just like a zoomer in the kitchen
It wasn't the oil that ignited it was the turpentine
Can we get a recipe?
well done 🔥
They're two different types of Pyrex, owned by different companies. Some sort of legal battle caused that to happen, One is heat resistant. The other one isn't. That's all you need to know and I'm pretty sure you got the non-heat resistant one. (And anybody willing to correct me, Please do)
Turpentine and linseed oil? Then a torch????? Dawg.
Let's hear it for science!
I assume you live on a raw food diet.
Forbidden cheese
pyrex is not what it used to be…
Using the stool to quickly suffocate the fire was so smart, but maybe we keep a fire extinguisher on hand next time
Take out the turpentine, and you can use it on leather. ❤✌️
Please never do that with Pyrex again it could explode those cups aren’t made to be heated up I’ve done it you’ll get hurt
There are two different types of Pyrex small letter are the heat resistant big letter arent
I expected better from all caps PYREX.
I can tell ur a wood worker by the way u took a torch directly to the oil😂, a bladesmith/armourer would never😂😂
Pyrex changed their material and it shows
I’m honestly amazed he survived
They don’t make Pyrex with borosilicate glass any more.
🌈 The More You Know
"PYREX" isn't heat resistant any more, but "Pyrex" is; either way I would use pots for this, not glass 😂
When I saw that fire it reminded me of my youth messing on the building site 😂😂😂
I use a double boiler for the job. Works great.
Pyrex supposedly sold its brand & some inferior quality stuff is now being made.
Pyrex is borosilicate and heat resistant. pyrex and PYREX are not.
When buying glass ware with heat in mind look for heat or microwave safe. Pyrex them selves have been selling non heat safe glassware to cut cost. I dont think you got bad glass based off the color but you probably shouldnt use a blowtorch either. Too much concentrated heat.
