This may be a bit gross but I would recommend putting your toothbrush in the cupboard. Whenever the toilet is flushed, it sends nasty particles (fecal, etc.) into the air that can contaminate your toothbrush – the cupboard would protect it from that. Gross, I know, but I hope this helps.
