My guide to classic udon + homemade teriyaki ???? | Marion's Kitchen

If you love Japanese food, this is the noodle bowl you need to be making. It’s all about that classic savoury broth, those chewy noodles and the beautifully glazed teriyaki chicken. Yes, it appears simple, but there’s nowhere to hide – each of those elements needs to be spot-on. Lucky for you, I’ve got all the know-how you need.

  1. I avoid MSG & pretty much most salt when cooking because I have kidney disease. I also have to limit the amount of protein I use (only 100 gm per day). I know decreasing the salt in a recipe changes its flavor but I would rather have a little flat-tasting food than have my kidneys fail; sorry Uncle Roger.

Marion- I love your recipes because I love Thai, Japanese, & Chinese food, & now I can make my favorite dishes at home while adjusting their salt content according to my diet. I would still love for you to make Mee Grob. Please consider doing so. Thanks.

  2. During Covid lockdown I tried so many recipes and realized that I didn’t like udon. Felt like I was eating worms. I’ll substitute ????

  3. Hi Marion! What you DON’T KNOW is that……both soy sauce and oyster sauce contain MSG!!!????????????????????????????

  4. I don't mind MSG when we go out to eat but when it comes to home cooking, it's a no no for me. It really doesn't have anything to do with health concerns but more like a generation thing. My mother always prides herself for cooking authentic Vietnamese food without MSG, she considers it cheating since it enhances the flavor and sorta makes all of her efforts seem less impressive. That kind of mentality passed down to me I guess ????

  5. What is so admirable about everything you present besides, your cue is technique. You have been taught well by "mom Noi" and graciously translate simply, deliciously ???? wonderful meals. You prepare love as the main ingredient……Mahalo and Aloha!…..

  6. I was always curious what Marion thought of frozen udon vs. shelf stable udon. I always thought frozen was better. Translation: Marion knows what’s best. ???? Also: MSG = Umami ???? ???? ????. Also; ❤️???????? you Marion! ???????? ???????? ???? ????

  7. I love udon noodles and always buy the frozen ones. Thank you for sharing the tips about dashi packets – I didn’t know and took pics of the packages for when I head to the local Asian market.

  8. You right about Uncle Roger! He'd roast you for it ????. 9:20am in India and this is my first video of Sunday morning. I'm making this for dinner tonight! ????
