NEVER Clean Knives in the Dishwasher

Your knife is truly the most important tool in the kitchen, and even though many knives are made with “dishwasher safe” materials, it’s really the fine edge that you should be concerned with. When putting them in the dishwasher, they get banged around, dulling that fine edge. That’s why I love partnering with @Zwilling_usa for educational videos like this. They have been making fantastic knives out of the best materials for almost 300 years, so I always have an edge that I can count on. The Zwilling Pro I used in this video is made of German stainless steel and is definitely the knife that I use in most of my videos because it is sharp enough to cut smoothly, but durable enough to be left dirty for an hour or so while I get distracted by my next shot. Haha. The curved bolster gives you that extra bit of control when using a pinch grip, which makes a big difference. If you’re looking to invest in practical kitchen tools, the Zwilling Pro is one I’d recommend. Find the link in my bio for more details.

also, since my familly has one chefs knife we use often, someone will definatly need it before the dishwasher cycle is done

also people acting like it doesn't take 5-10 seconds handwashing a knife (although I too doubt that a diswasher has any real noticble affect)

Ooohh nooo~ not some mild detergent on my regular ass knife and some ~minor vibrations~~
You would be infinitely more likely to snap small bits off the edge with that towel than your sdishwasher jets are going to erode the knofe. One chop on a cutting board is going to do more damage than some dish soap ever would.

Even then, you’re sharpening the sucker anyways, so it doesn’t really matter what you do to the edge if it’s gonna be ground down anyways.

No thank you. I would rather get more knives over my life than hand wash knives for the rest of my life

There no point owning things if you can't use them. Who cares if a knife gets dull, it can be sharpened or replaced. I'm not going to waste my life (and nail beds) hand washing nonsense.

  5. @TopiasSalakka

My knives are cheap trash anyway, though I only put the small ones in the dish washer since they fit the plastic tray.

  6. @Glockmog2007

This is only true if your knife still has a burr on it because it wasnt sharpened correctly (which most people dont)

  7. @Glutenenjoyer.

The main reason you are not supposed to clean your knives in the dishwasher is that it removes the heat treatment and makes the steel softer.

  8. @piouspigeon9327

So my knife that brags about being made in a forge with crazy strong steel and super high temperatures just gets clapped by a dish washer?

  9. @TheBerlinbaer

There is only one kind of knife in my house. Those who survive the dishwasher. The rest go in the bin.

  10. @skidhs

Or dishwasher it – then sharpen it with terrible knife sharpeners when it’s dull and then just buy a new one 5 years from now and save yourself the hassle of handwashing one more thing

Also remember to wash your blades after sharpening them.

Wouldn't want to eat metal shavings.

Internet at its best, literaly everyone saying anything in the comments going completly side ways in all direction lol, most are based on "personal experience" lol im not saying he is right or wrong, but washing you kicthen knives anyway is not a big deal, you can put everything else, if you have to clean 2 or 3 things by hands its fine just do it and shut up
