NEVER TOO SMALL: Architect’s Nintendo Inspired Apartment, Paris 57sqm/614sqft

Nestled inside a two-story industrial building in eastern Paris, the extraordinary Maximalist mini loft reflects a Nintendo and comic book filled childhood and the creative passion of its owner, architect Anthony Authié of Zyva Studio. The open plan living, kitchen and dining area is a large 4.2 metre high grey box, featuring furniture made by either Authié himself or his friends, including a wooden sofa with red leather cushions and a 3D printed coffee table inspired by the Super Mario game’s spiny Koopa Troopas. The fully metallic kitchen, with metal doors and grey granite countertop, was inspired by Batman’s Mr. Freeze, and features neon pink 3D printed door handles and four vibrant orange stools resembling the pipes in the Super Mario games. A staircase, which doubles as a wall for one side of the kitchen, leads to the bedroom where a curtain of yellow fabric creates the illusion of a large yellow box. Every inch of this 57sqm apartment features imaginative and personalised touches, making it a truly one-of-a-kind living experience.

  1. ah, does anyone know the name of that TV model? I saw it several times and it's the only TV that's not actively ugly. Fantistic apartment, so different from the white-gray-wood scheme we see everywhere!

  2. Excellent design I could happily live there, but with my own furniture ❤

  3. I do love everything about this.. i m only a little worried if storing the clothes in the shower area would get them damp and mouldy after a while, i would imagine, since i didnt see any windows there that could at least rid the space of some of the humidity. how did you solve this or is this at all an issue? maybe the cupboard doors are enough to prevent this, intuitivly i would say it won t , but maybe i wrong, and it works fine.. in that case, i really think its a very brilliant choice, does anyone have experience with textiles in a wetroom after some time? i really enjoy the quirkiness, the crazy colors and the 3d printed little handles and legs.. i m very surprised what a strong effect those have on the whole room. these alone would make it already very unique and then all of these artpieces arranged together.. its a feast for my eyes. thank you for sharing.

  4. If that’s what his aparment looks like, I don’t even want to know what the buildings he designed look like.

  5. It always fascinates me how everything complements when going maximalist. You have such a playful home! ❤️

  6. not even 5 seconds of the video and I could already tell that this is by far my most favourite tour on your channel !!!! And being myself a big nintendo fan, I'm obsessed with the coopa details ❤‍????feels like a total emergence in a very aesthetic video game world

  7. Really like the lay-out & functionality- absolutely hate the design aesthetic. But then again, I don’t have to live there so whatever floats their boat.

  8. it's not about style… when you do things the right way everything works

  9. Whilst it's not somewhere I would personally want to live I LOVE the yellow doors, they're so punchy against the grey and look so good~

  10. Lovely to see some quirkiness in additional to all the minimalist spaces. I'm more of a minimalist myself, but I love the fact that a wider range of projects are featured by Never Too Small 🙂

  11. Amazing work here, love this apartment! Especially the organization of the space. I'm totally different kind of style and I couldn't live here more than 1 day ????, but it looks anyway amazing and suit perfectly on him.

  12. Finally, a space that isn't white or beige and no plywood. The functional kitchen and bathroom and lively terrazzo could be a backdrop for any style. I do love seeing such a colorful and artistic space.

  13. I wonder if you cook anything in this kitchen, the smell will spread to the entire apartment up to the bedroom as there is no kitchen hood over the cooktop to absorb fumes, oil droplets and vapour.

  14. I like designers like this even though it's not my style! It makes me think of Karim Rashid, so much personality.

  15. I love all the yellow. Not so much the all-color-present idea. But it is not heavy all together.

  16. OK so the walls are not quite white but light gray, not such a radical change you may say, but … look how this space has been decorated, it is full FULL of personality. You may like it you may not, but you cannot forget it ! How delightfully fresh it is to see someone that is not afraid to come out from under thier white blanket and show Character !!!!!!!!!!!! Well Done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. I was admiring his vision and ability to design this place so cleverly to suit him and his wife. Then I saw the toilet with no place to wash one's hands…

  18. Love the bathroom. Storing, washing and changing out of clothes to shower .. all close together… So sensible.

The space is a great canvas and the designer has outfitted it so brilliantly to match their style.

It's inspiring. To see someone activate the space with such care and creativity.
