Home to self taught interior designer Daphney Ho, this 48sqm apartment’s diamond-shaped layout has been expertly maximized with sliding doors through-out; alongside arches and curves that soften its irregular shape. The living area has been raised on a wooden platform and features a custom made sofa with built in storage. A shoe cabinet, cleverly angled away from the wall, forms the back of the sofa whilst providing extra storage at the entrance. To maximize the dining space, Ho opted for a round dining table and curved booth seating that fit neatly into the corner of the room. An arched doorway leads to the apartment’s two bedrooms, where their sliding doors are concealed as fluted wall panels. The main bedroom was designed to fit a king sized bed, while the second contains no fixed furniture and functions as a multi-use space and dressing room, purposefully designed to be flexible in future, and change as the needs of its owners do.

  1. I loved the raised platform to create that separate entrance. The Asian rule of no shoes in the house should be applied everywhere.

  2. crazyyyyyyyy – very nice desgin, looks aesthetic and at the same time coozie and functional

  3. One of the finest designs featured. And as someone else said, the self-taught designer! yes yes <3

  4. WOW! Very clever and well thought out design I love the care of attention to detail such as the japanese hardwood in the bathroom wet space!

  5. This apartment is one of my favorites. I love the chosen materials, the design, the light- and brightness of the place. Big complements to the self taught designer. I always believed that you are best in what you do, when you follow your passions!

  6. Despite the irregular shape of the apartment, the design looks incredibly balanced. Everything is in great harmony

  7. Superb! I particularly love the entrance area and innovative sofa, living and dining areas. Best regards. G Ire

  8. Nailed it! To think that this genius work was done by a self-taught interior designer ????????

  9. Exquisite simplicity and elegance. So well thought out and beautifully executed. Bravo !

  10. The only thing I'd change is to get rid of the raised platform flooring in the living room, definitely a tripping hazard.

  11. She has designed a beautiful space. Wish she could come to Denmark and redesign our apartment. However, it is a rental, so some things cannot be changed while others can. It’s not the US, we can upgrade the kitchen and bathroom, and floors. We cannot remove walls.

  12. “When designing a small space, it is important to be open minded to the possibilities of each area and corner but at the same time to spare blank space as balance” – this summarises the entire apartment design.

This is such a beautiful layout with such meticulous ideas and designs, making use of all the nook & corners while not making it look cluttered. I love how she was able to work with the limitations of the structure and yet come up with such a unique result. ????

Feels so homely and cared for!

  13. For a small space, this apartment has seemingly endless surprises tucked away! I love how light it, and the designer did an amazing job turning a diamond-shaped footprint into a series of soft curves.
