NEVER TOO SMALL: Simple and Stylish Singapore Apartment, 55sqm/592sqft

Designed for a well-travelled client who enjoys the comfort and luxury of hotel suites, Vin Leong of Haelycyon Days adapted hotel design principles for this central Singapore apartment, creating a functional space that maximises storage and livability. Amongst Leong’s key additions to the space was a full height, integrated storage wall at the entrance clad in a dramatic dark wood green laminate as well as a hidden glass sliding door separating the entryway from the kitchen, preventing smells and smoke from escaping into the living area. Here, the original polished marble floors were honed for a more contemporary matte finish, while a neutral colour palette creates a blank canvas for carefully selected furniture to stand out. This theme continues in the bedroom, where a wall of seamless white panelling with hidden handles houses ample storage and wardrobe space. A cleverly placed mirror in the corner of the bedroom gives the illusion of added depth. With this thoughtful execution, Vin Leong has created a functional and clutter free space for his client to enjoy.

  1. Lighting is EVERYTHING in this amazing apartment! The amount of thought that’s gone into all the design details, especially the lighting and storage has created a highly functional and beautiful modern space!
    Personally I’d add a few more plants ! ????????

  2. I'm kinda indifferent toward neutral color palettes apartments. I mean, at the end of the day it is pretty, but I want to see colors, I want to see spaces that are alive.
"A neutral color palette is brought into the space and becomes a blank canvas for furniture pieces to stand out" when even the furniture pieces are either beige or grey is a bold statement. Nothing really stands out and everything is kind of sterile.

Aside from this small rant, the layout is really clever and there's a good use of storage space.

  3. I would love to see a video about the makeover! Looks amazing and I will be also curious about how much could cost this transformation! Great job, one of the best on this channel ????

  4. Simple and yet such efficient solution! Just wow. Petje af, als wij zeggen.

  5. It is amazing how colors can set a mood. A bright foyer would have stimulated one's senses, where the dark foyer takes your senses down upon entry. Just the right size apartment with a smart use of cabinets to conceal stuff/clutter. I suspect he will trade in the B&O larger system for something smaller to blend into the new style of the apartment.

  6. Забавно, у нас строили такое малогабаритное жилье как временная мера по решению квартирного вопроса в разрушенной стране. 50 лет над хрущевками ржали, а на западе сейчас из этого делают фетиш.

  7. Gosh, I would hire Vin Leong if I lived in Singapore! Beautifully executed. Very refined and functional. This is one of the best small spaces I have seen on YouTube.

  8. This is definetly one of my favourites for a variety of reasons including fantastic use of storage & very inspirational too!

  9. I loved this apartment, design, light, bathroom. Cosy and modern!

  10. It's such a luxurious,fully-equipped & furnished apartment, but it lacks to the airy atmosphere in the kitchen & bathroom ????

  11. Thank you for listening to the suggestion and keeping the product plug at the end guys & great video ❤❤

  12. Beautiful home! Lol, just taking a casual drink ‘bottle from Dom Perignon’????

  13. I couldn't focus properly because of his feet… 😀
I quite like how it looks (even though this style is not my personal style at all) and for some weird reason I really like the dark alley from the kitchen to the bathroom, but that's probably my headache speaking 😀
The storage is very generous, but otherwise it's quite… I don't want to say boring, but I have no better word.
What I really cannot stand is the idea of those corner mirrors, though – I don't know if it's only my problem and people in general are not that easily distracted, but I would always need to look twice when noticing a movement in my peripheral vision before realizing it's actually only my own reflection and it would be very annoying.

  14. Beautiful. I love the simplicity and use of light and dark to define spaces. Very sophisticated and elegant.

  15. Can't say I like it but can't say I don't like it either.
It's very elegant but also without much character, it has a rather bleak and cold feel but then again, the kitchen, bathroom and entrance have a strange, homely feel. For me, it feels too close to a modern hotel room but who cares, if the owner likes it that way.

  16. Love love this! I really wish my apartment would be this neat but sadly I live in Canada (a small city) and their apartments are old and have less cabinets 🙁

  17. My apartment is 53 sqm and looks much bigger than this one, this feels so crowded.

  18. I think that the glass couch table doesn't fit into the space. Sofas, glass table and tv-console look like coincidentially dropped peaces. The table needed to bring those elements together and it doesn't. I also think that it is not especially pretty and unpractical.

I don't want my appartment to look like a hotel, but with this goal in mind, I like this appartment. I like especially the marble table (only for hot countries) and the different chairs.
