  1. Quartz watches are cheap made hence cheap reputation. Truth be told the casual person walking by won’t be able to tell with some brands whether you’re wearing quartz or not. There’s a million reasons why quartz is not as good though.

  2. Girls make cloth change during the wedding, you definitely must change watches… ???? Congratulations tho!

  3. In my experience as a mechanic, lubricants dry out over time regardless of use, the only difference between a mechanism running and not is wear, and wear contaminates the lubricant, which leads to faster wear. So I'd say your best bet for keeping a watch in good condition is to only wind it when you're using it, let it sit idle the rest of the time to minimize wear. The lubricants will eventually dry out either way, but that's easily solved when it goes in for service, it's much more expensive to fix wear.

  4. The reason the US used to be an industrial powerhouse was there was a high degree of freedom. People could go to the US and start a business, and there wasn't much of anything holding them back, just the realities of the market. If you had a better idea, it could take flight and grow to its potential. Over the years more and more regulation and taxation crept in, and production left in search of greater freedom, which it found, ironically, in places where governments are often politically oppressive… just not oppressive to production.

  5. I am not hating on quartz watches, but I have an opinion on them. And that is that I don't see the point in buying a quartz from a prestigious manufacturer of mechanical watches. If I want a quartz, I am getting a G-Shock, not an Omega. That said, quartz watches do nothing for me. The G-Shock I owned, I gave to my girlfriend.

  6. Omega has more history than Rolex and Tudor combined. Not going anywhere. Just more Rolex propaganda.

  7. I love mechanical watches for the beauty of the movement engineering. I also like the idea of not having to replace batteries periodically. However, I recently purchased a Citizen Promaster Titanium EcoDrive. which does overcome my objection to batteries since it's solar charged. It also keeps very accurate time. I'd now like to check out a higher level Seiko Astron. All that said, I really, really want a Grand Seiko Quartz, battery be damned! The nicer quartz watches have movements that can be repaired, and there are high-performance quartz models that stay accurate to within a few seconds per year. The Seiko Astron GPS, if you allow it to update using GPS, is estimated to stay accurate to within 1 second per 1000 years. Mechanical watches have a ways to go to get to that level!

  8. Go with your grandfather's watch for the ceremony. And then wear whatever else your considering for the party etc.

  9. Wear your grandfather's watch for the entire day. Noone is going to care what watch you are wearing.

  10. Brands that cater to women begins and ends with Omega. Omega has great options for the woman in your life. 8yrs ago on a travel to Anaheim CA with my wife of 28yrs then, we went into an Omega boutique at South Coast Plaza. It was a birthday gift purchase and she love the Constellation with mother of pearl dial. We had a great time with the staff and them with us that the shop manager made us dinner reservation at a Flemmings type and quality restaurant at the Plaza on Omega's expense. It was a great overall experience!

  11. Cleveland Guardian fan here from California. Would love to visit your city someday & see a game at Progressive

  12. As a Chicago native who has been to Cleveland, I can totally appreciate your feelings about that town…especially the food scene, the Orchestra (and R&R HoF) and the perks of living by a large lake.

Is there a pool somewhere covering what other watch you would be wearing on your wedding day? (BTW Congrates!!!) I would guess your Reverso.

  13. I think if omega keeps up this lazy stuff just making the same watch over and over again. Tudor could eventually pass them I think.

  14. Why does he has these puffy arms and a small beardless head? He looks like a funny cartoon character

  15. When you are talking about spending big bux on high ticket discretionary status symbols, you’d have to be blithely naive to whinge about snobbery. The whole luxury goods sector requires snobbery in order to thrive. Though I see no need to for condescending pomposity to sully the sector, because we can all appreciate even many of the low cost pieces. After all it’s a very subjective thing. Thanks Teddy and God bless.
