I’ve mixed one crushed asprin per tomato plant into the soil at planting time for years now and it works wonders, now I’ll be trying it as a spray on other plants and gauge the outcome. Thanks for the tip! ❤
Can we use a liquid aspirin mixed with the water?
Good reminder. I used this for a few years, to good effect, after learning about it from Next Level Gardening years ago, but for some reason I just kind of… forgot about it. Gonna start doing it again.
I've never tried that but it is food for thought
Spraying the plants reduces there own immune system. For less work let the plants grow
Hey James … does this work on all kinds of different plants or only tomatoes?
This is fascinating, Salicylic acid is an "anti inflammatory" I guess it works on plants too!
YES THE BEST INTRO IN THE WORLD IS BACK!!!
Does this remind anyone else of "Brawndo…it's got what plants crave?" Instead of using chemical companies, you can just make a five gallon bucket of "willow water" (find willow trees in your area and snap the leaves and twigs into a bucket of water) to do the same thing with true organic ingredients. Just place the leaves/twigs in the water bucket for about a couple of days to a couple of weeks. Five gallons will go a long way. You can use it as a foliar spray (leaf spray) or just to water the roots. No unknown or questionable ingredients and no purchase necessary…unless you don't own a bucket. "Salicylic" acid is derived from "Salix" species (aka Willow …the amount of the acids vary in the leaves and bark for each Salix species… so just use both leaves and bark and you'll be fine if you wanted to experiment with this). I'd recommend doing just the root sprays or add only a little bit of your willow water into your water can each time you go to the garden. Best wishes on your own experimentation with it!
Keep your row of control tomato plants going without the spray. Then you can make a legit comparison at the end of season.
I used the aspirin on my tomatoes, but I didn't fouler spray I just soiled drenched them. After several days I pruned the bottom leaves and then waited another several days then transplanted them. I thought I'd get there defenses up before pruning so when i pruned they wouldn't get a disease through there " open wound". I also put several inches of mulch down. Probably about three inches of mulch. Since I don't see another four-legged baby I'm assuming Tuck hasn't found you the perfect companion.
Good video I like that might help my tomatoes thank you for your video so you doing a great job I'm getting better in the garden because of your videos
Hi!! Great video!! Can we use the same aspirin liquid for peppers 🫑❓ thank you ‼️👍
Question. Why not just use Salicilic acid itself? Something like the ingredients in skin tag remover. Would that work?
Using Aspirin in the garden was a big deal in the 1960's. It seemed to be used in several ways, but I was a little kid and didn't pay enough attention to those wise people. Great video James !
I love your new T-shirt!!!@🌞🌞🌞
Awe…disappointed with this. From what I know, plants defence system is what causes oxalate build up in whoever eats those plants.
Willow tree leaves chopped and soaked over night will also work.
Best tomatoes I have grown, I did this.
Hi James. I live in Australia and years ago saw a program called vasilli's garden where the host would visit food gardeners. In one episode the lady swore by crumbling aspirin around the base of her tomatoes when planting. Certainly seemed to work, they were beautiful. Just goes to show, don't knock something just because it seems like a strange idea because sometimes it can turn out to be amazing 😊
Of course they like aspirin, it helps with the growing pains.
I want to crush the asprin and mix it around the plant in the soil will this work
Drugs for plants, let's see it…
I mix 1 aspirin per gallon directly in my watering can, and water my tomatoes with the mix. Been doing aspirin for a few years now. I haven't had any health issues with my plants, so I believe it has helped
