  1. My fine Irish friend, i thought of you when my kids asked about a lovely piece of furniture in their room. It is a dresser that’s over 100 years old. I was pregnant quite young (17) and didn’t have much money at all, but really needed a changing table and dresser for my baby. My mom found a dresser at my great grandmothers house in a barn that was being demolished to “tidy up” the property for sale. It was filthy, half buried in dirt, and ROUGH, but my mom lovingly stripped and scrubbed until she had bare wood and then refinished it beautifully. Even the mirror survived.

Once my mom was in the process of scrubbing it, she noticed an inscription on the back of the dresser which said it was sold by X &X to my grandparents for $20 in 1940something. We freaked out bc X&X happened to be my boyfriend’s grandparents. After a bit of digging, we found out that the dresser had been in his family for many years and was then sold to my great grandparents who used it for my grandmother when she was a child. So my daughter’s changing table/dresser actually came from both my great grandparents and her dad’s grandparents longgg before any of us were born.

The best part— aside from the familial history— is that i am a dwarf (4’7”) and most changing tables are way too tall for me. This dresser is very short and I think was designed to be a sort of dressing table/dresser. It was the PERFECT height. All four of my kids have used it for diaper changes and baby clothes and it’s so precious to me that they will have the use of it for their kids too. Pieces of history like that are truly special and meant to be treasured 🤍

  2. You need to start doing audiobooks. I don't even like to listen to audiobooks, but if you narrated them, I think I could get into audiobooks. Beautiful work, as always!
