We do not recommend using cocoa powder in place of semi-sweet chocolate. Cocoa powder is a better substitute for unsweetened chocolate although substituting ingredients in cheesecake recipes is not recommended in general.

Oh, Thanks so much. Im totally going to make this soon. My stomach growls just thinking of it!

Although we haven't tested it with any other chocolates, you may substitute the Baker's chocolate with another semi-sweet chocolate. This recipe calls for 8 squares which equals to 8 ounces.

So, we can't use any other Semi-Sweet chocolate? What if we don't have Baker's chocolate where we live? Is the recipe going to be completely different? This looks delicious and I want to make it for a party coming up.

This recipe was developed using Baker's Semi-Sweet chocolate squares so we do not recommend substituting with a different chocolate as they may affect the recipe's outcome.

Please take a look at a 3-step cheesecake recipe to adapt the recipe for a 9-inch crust.

To ensure success with cheesecakes, the recipes should not be modified. Instead, you may want to search for a cheesecake recipe that is already being made in a pie crust such as our 3-Step Philadelphia cheesecakes.
