Refurbishing a fancy flea market ring

Liz brought me a special ruby ring that had seen years of love and wear. Originally found decades ago at a flea market in San Diego by her aunt, the ring’s unique design and history made it a cherished piece. But constant wear had left deep scuffs and scratches on the shank, and it was just a tad bit tight on Liz’s finger. I resized it, tightened the loose ruby, and filled in the wear marks using gold wire and my laser welder. After smoothing and polishing it to a mirror finish, the ring was ready for Liz to try on. Watch as this flea market find transforms into a perfectly fitted family treasure!

That's a lot of kit to do a simple job that you can do with hand tools in about twice the time for 1/1000 the cost.
